My story is similar and I've probably already told it, maybe even in this post...hope not.

I went for a long weekend to Vegas with my ex, we had round trip tickets so getting home wasn't an issue. When we got to the MGM Grand where we were staying, all the computers at check in were down. Lines were long, so while my ex stood in line I went and put in $20 in a $1 slot but each full spin was $3 and I won $500 after a few spins.

I put that money in the room safe and spent the rest of the weekend playing on my ex's money but never won anything much after that. Broke even but still went home with $500. :)

I seldom gambled with my own money, if my ex or a date took me to a casino, I played with their money and if I won, I'd give them some,

My first official gambling adventure was at the Wonderland dog racing track, and then Suffolk Downs horse racing track in the Boston area. Ever since the lottery was around, my family and I have been gambling, but nothing too crazy, just a few dollars here and there. I don't have the opportunity to go to a casino these days, since I'd have to drive to Louisiana, but I do have a few scratch ticket apps that I play. So far, I haven't won anything, but I'm always hopeful.

My closest casino is only 15 mins but I would never go by myself. I've only gone with dates and they always
Gave me money to play. I would hate to lose my own money, lol.

I'm not a gold digger and the amounts weren't big but if you're going to take me on a date, I'm not using my money.

I've turned down a cruise because they expected me to stay in the same cabin with them...

I'd love to live 15 minutes from a casino @Chrissy Page. I'd definitely go by myself. I drove to Lake Charles, Louisiana when L'Auberge du lac opened (now just called L'Auberge), to see what it was like. It was more upscale than the casino boats I'd been to in Lake Charles in the past. I haven't met a casino I didn't like, although some I've been to were much nicer than others. I'm not a big gambler, since I don't have much money, but I still enjoy the atmosphere, and find it enjoyable to play the slot machines. I have played video poker a time or two, but the money just goes too fast with that game. I also enjoy roulette, and occasionally, blackjack.

You are younger than me, Diane. I think. I did a lot of things in my 50's that I don't do now, lol.

My ex won $1,500 on the poker machine the same night I won $1,800 on the dollar slots. It was New Year's Eve.

My ex played blackjack but I never played any of those games...just the slots but only dollar or quarter...nothing less.

Yes, and there are a lot of things I wouldn't do now that I would do when I was younger, but there are also some I'd do now that I wouldn't do then. It seems I care less each year what other people think. Now, it's more about comfort and what I actually enjoy, rather than what's expected by society or family and friends. By the way, I totally understand about not sharing a cabin.

I've never won that much at a casino, but I still enjoy going, and I like the idea that I could potentially win something that would change my situation. I tend to play the really cheap machines, so I can play longer on the same amount of money, but I will occasionally spend a little bit of time on the higher priced ones. One of my favorite casinos was basically a big barn where a friend and I went, up in Washington state, but I also appreciate the upscale pretty ones, although I'm no longer interested in getting dressed up. I prefer to be comfortable, especially if I'm going to be travelling to and from the casino in the same day.

Except for Vegas, I never dressed up for the local casino....it's all about comfort now for me, too.

The nickel slots bore me and I really don't know what I'm doing on those, the very few times I've played...Ive never won.

At my local casino, I used to know which machines payed off or were popular and would try to get on those.

Also knew the ones that never paid out.

The one that I won on was a new machine and I didn't even know how much I was going to win when I hit a winning combination.

Of course that would be the one time I didn't take my drivers license to the casino, thankfully it was a short drive home to get it because I needed it to collect my winnings.

I chose not to have them take the money out for the tax while my ex did. I paid tax on it at tax time.

I figured I may die before tax time, so took all my money....that's how I think. :)

Virginia City used to (may still) have penny and nickel slots. You couldn't win much but you couldn't lose much either. It was just a fun thing.

I have done many forms of gambling but I am terrified to lose money. I have never won much becuse I never bet much. Sometime I would like to gamble alot like maybe one hundred bucks and not even worry about it...My guess is I will come out one hundred dollars poorer! :p I was playing Texas Hold em on Kindle last night..but was just using fake money so no real risk is involved. I might actually buy some Bingo cards on there though because it sure costs alot to game in the real world. Media Predict and Cents Sports are free betting sites online, and there is an online stock predictor game as well which benefits you if you guess the performance of certain stocks.
