This is really weird .................... I mean REALLY WEIRD ..
The temperatures up here lately have been....
Way above freezing during the day, like around the 2c to 8c mark...
Below freezing at night like around the -4c to -10c mark...
That means the maple sap is flowing.. The maple farmers are super busy taping their trees for the season which is exactly one month too early.. Usually this is done in the first week of march, not February..
This could be very good and very bad.. If this keeps up, there will be a super year of maple syrup, but if we get another bitter cold spell, like the -30c mark, it will be a disaster for them.. So far, the holding tanks are filling up for syrup making..

I worry about our fruit trees, too, Steve. I hope this warm spell doesn't make them bud early.

I guess spring is on the way here. My son had the garden tilled this afternoon. I saw a bluebird pluck a nice juicy worm (maybe bug) from the fresh tilled soil. The field beside my house has hundreds of robins feeding. They had soybeans planted there last summer. The robins must be eating some that fell from the combine.

today we have a dog trainer coming to our house to help us with the discipline of our puppy..
He came before and his methods really work, but our poor pooch is really out of control and needs help being a good dog.. We both love him, but he is definitely active, but not aggressive.. I know he is only 8 months old, but now is the time to train him properly.. I think (not sure) he is still teething which is why he wants to bite and chew everything..

Louise... Our dear pooch has at least 15 different chewable toys..
He is teething and his gums are in pain, so he wants to chew everything he can ..
We give him a facecloth that is very wet, twisted, and put in the freezer for him to chew on.. He loves that..
