Now that you mentioned forest fires, we had a fire only 20kms from our house last summer and the smoke was something else up here.. We had to wear face masks outside and they were the N95 ones.. Now, because we didn't have much snow this winter, there is a big possibility that we will be seeing more fires this summer.. Where we live, we are surrounded by forest.. We don't live in the village but a bit out of it, in the suburbs.. The forest fires up here are caused by lightning which somehow we get lots of..

Ahhh beautiful white winter snow in Canada. and it was also the same when we lived in Maine,,too Steve,, nice to look at but thats about it,, ,,
Love those pictures Louise.... Especially the last one with the snowblower... Its not cold here today during the storm.. actually only -3c which is rather warm.. A cold spell is coming in the next few days with somewhere around the -30c mark and that is the temperature, not the windchill factor which will be much lower..
When i lived in Maine we also had many days of below 0 temps too, Steve, Luckly no frozen pipes , we had a wood stove and that was a big blessing to us in those winters,, Kept us warm day and night,, lPlus we lived on a Hill so. we had to keep our drive-way free of snow as much as possible. Always had to pay a guy to plow us out but was worth it,, he always did a great job,,!
Down to -28c tonight... That is great for freezing the lakes, but it isn't going to last long enough and it came way too late in the winter.. All the ice fishing tournaments have been cancelled due to very thin ice on the lakes..
Its a long week-end up here.. It is Family day and everything is closed on Monday, even the grocery stores and pharmacies..
