I am usually a lot, less active in Winter months @Ken Anderson. I am in the Pacific NW and it's sloppy wet along the coast where I live. No snow, but cold enough I don't enjoy my walking. This year I just knew I was going to gain back the weight if I didn't join a gym. Also, I had already noticed less pain when I am active, so didn't want to give that up either.

I did start out doing "at home" exercises, but for me, living alone, I was isolating indoors too much. I was motivated to do what I've done, I was unhappy with my weight, and getting some arthritic stuff, so I went for it. It's just a personal, individual thing for us all. Besides that, you may be moving around more than you think, or not;) lol;)

Bobby and I have been going to the fitness center every other day, as our schedule permits, and then swimming in the backyard swimming pool on the days we don't go and exercise, and even we swim at home in the heat of the afternoon on days when we did also go to the fitness center.
Since our. Weather is about to take a big drop, and we won't be able to use the swimming pool out back any more this year, we have been talking about going to the gym more often.
We probably won't go every day; but on days when we don't have anything else happening we will go, so that should be almost every day for the winter months.
I originally started out doing some walking on the treadmill and using the recumbent bycycle machine; but then I lost out on swimming time; so I stopped doing the other exercises. If we go every day, then one day, I will do my swimming and water exercise routine, and the next day, I can use the treadmill and other exercise machines. I am hoping that this will help me to burn more excess fat and start losing weight faster.
Since Bobby is not busy working on one of the rents houses that belongs to our neighbor, he will have more time for doing things together, like going to the fitness center every day.

I am also happy that my daughter is not spending as much time working as she was, and she has been out having some fun on the weekends lately.
She got a Ducati motorcycle, and has been going on the rides with a friend of hers who has one of those fancy 3-wheeled motorcycles.
Today, she went into Eastern Tennessee and then went white-water rafting; and the picture she posted on Facebook, it looked like she was having a great time. That is her on the very front of the boat ! ! (Click to enlarge picture)

This is a timely thread for me because my sedentary job was the topic yesterday in my conversation with my husband. I have difficulty in losing weight although I am optimistic that I can reach down to 160 pounds (from 170 pounds 2 months ago) before the end of October. One factor to consider is my job in the office which is really sedentary since I am always on my table when I am not in a meeting. I am now trying to find a reason to walk like going out for lunch. However, I don't eat out for lunch anymore for it adds weight so I just stay inside the office. But I do window shopping during the lunch break just to have a reason for walking.

I started walking in earnest last Spring when we spent a month in Az. My husband has had a Fitbit since they came out and I could of cared less. While in Az., every morning we'd walk to the local Starbucks and in the evening to share a yogurt. Lots of steps (even though the Starbucks and yogurt negated all those steps). Well, long story short, bought a Fitbit and haven't stopped walking, usually 5 miles + a day. I feel so much better, better attitude, better energy. I'm fortunate we have 2 county parks by us, about a block away from our house and I walk to them and through them. I too live in the Pacific Northwest and am concerned when the rains come, but there is a large mall about 2 miles from our home and it opens in the early morning for walkers, think I'll try that route if need be.

I have a fitbit also. I don't use it when at home in Fresno but when visiting my daughter on the coast. I can average 10,000 steps easily.

I do try to walk some at home too but only because I have eggs to hatch on my Pokemon Go app. :)

Problem with that is that you have to have your phone on you and unless out, I forget.
