Although it is supposed to rain tonight, it is 81 here in Alabama right now, according to the weather app on the iPad. I have been outside raking away the old leaves from around the mint plants, and they are starting to come up already. Since it was so nice and warm, I decided to make my first Green Lemonade of this year ! I picked a nice little sprig of the fresh mint, peeled and quartered a fresh lemon, and then added a handful of fenugreek sprouts , some romaine lettuce and a few chunks of frozen pineapple, and then sweetened it with one of the little drink packets of peach/mango. I added a quart of filtered water, put it all in the Vitamix, and blended until it turned a beautiful green and was totally smooth. I have some in my shaker cup with ice cubes, and it is the perfect drink for this warm afternoon.
Years ago someone I worked with brought a smoothie of orange juice and cantalope...was awesome stuff ! Filling and a good cool you off drink. Now if coud remember how to make it
There’s plenty of smoothie recipes on line @Gloria Mitchell I bought a very expencive nuitibullet when they first advertised on TV ..it’s still going strong after about 4 years . If you can get hold of a NB recipe book they have some very good hints of what go’s with what ...and what foods are not really suitable to be mixed together for a smoothie . I personally don’t like the taste of cucumber or celery in smoothies yuck
After not wanting anything to drink that was not nice and hot for the last 4-5 months (and freezing anyway), it has finally warmed up enough for me to drink a green smoothie again. I didn’t put a lot of ice in it, but enough to make it chilled a bit, and I used the Vitamix this time. It really does a much better job than even the Ninja Health IQ blender; but it takes up a whole lot more room , so I do not usually have it out on the counter. I am thinking that I might soak some almonds and make almond milk while I have the Vitamix out.
