I guess at our age, life changes are part of the deal. We never really know what is around the corner. @Ken Anderson I'm not really online enough during the day to be that much help, but I generally look for new members and try to welcome them.
The fact that I am from a different time zone to the rest of you other than Milla Jonas counts me out too Ken.
Why would it? I would think that might be an advantage. It's not like it's an eight-hour job or anything.
Not sure how it used to be here, only the veterans can know of the differences. Hope we all can put positive efforts forward to keep SoC what we want and need to be. I've only been here for 5 months, but if this place wasn't here, would be a great loss for me, and sure many others. Let's try to keep things together.
As with the rest of our lives, people come, people go, and sometimes they return. Those who were here before are sorely missed, but others join and eventually become the soul of the forum. This is not to imply that people are easily replaced because no one is just the same as someone else, so things do change, and change often seems like a bad thing.
If we had at least one more Greeter, I'd like to add one additional duty, which would be to choose a "Thread of the Week" and, from that, a "Thread of the Month" to acknowledge some of the extra special threads that we have going here. These could be added to a separate page on the site, rather than just a forum thread, with links to the ones so awarded, as well as from our Facebook page. As it is, anyone with a Facebook account should feel free to promote any pages that they'd like to promote on our Facebook page, but I think I'd like to have a formal "Thread of the Week" and "Thread of the Month" but, with only Yvonne and I, there wouldn't be anyone to break the tie.
I'll happily help out in that department. I am sorry I did not see your invite for a greeter earlier, nor did I know what it entailed. So you can count me in if you'd feel comfortable having me.
We're still working out some of the access details, but @Craig Swanson has been appointed as a Greeter.
