The youth of today will adjust and it will be the new norm. It has been around a long time, just not talked about. Even transgender isn't new but it still is very expensive to have the surgery, so many don't do the last step. The 60's were a decade of free love, etc. then you had the swingers and open marriages. So, it's not exactly new but since the internet everything is out there now. I come from a very traditional family. Not even a divorce anywhere or stepchildren or half brothers and siblings. My mom and dad weren't divorced, all 4 of us children have married and none are divorced, I'm the only widow. My children so far haven't been divorced either. I'm the biggest sinner since I lived with a man after my husband died for a few years. I wouldn't marry again even if another man was to come into my life...for one thing I would lose my widow's benefits ...I think.
Funny all those things you discribed as not being part of your family, does discribed mine. I can go a bit farther with it, my oldest son married my second step-daughter, making my husband's and my youngest son the uncle on both side to the two children born. Young Mike was half brother to ER, and to my step-daughter.
This is such a complicated way to live. It makes me want to put the cpvers over my head. Too much for me.
Well, I would say stranger things have happened...but i guess not! Talk about being both mother and father! This put s a whole new spin on things doesn't it??? Like the title of the movie "It's a Mad, Mad World." Call me crazy, but I liked things the old fashioned way.
