Also called Cotton Top Tamarins, they are found in Columbia. I remember reading some people felt it was a cross between a monkey and a squirrel. Here's a photo of one from online.
Yes they are adorable but hard to care for. They live in the canopy of the trees in the rain forest, where they get plenty of sunshine, this converts to vitamin D. In Captivity, you have to supplement Them With large doses of vitamin D, It's difficult to regulate, If not correct they get Rickets. I know the photo is not clear but that's the only one I could find after the fire. I remember having some color photos Maybe they will turn up, we still have tons of boxes to go through.
I have Lucy's twin. I call her Baby. She was the smallest of the pullets I bought and everybody picked on her. I put her and her sybs in the chicken tractor to introduce them slowly but baby got out. She is doing better now and knows all the hiding places from the rooster.
I tried everything to put Lucille back with the flock after she had healed up from her injury but with no luck at all. Lucille has got to where she will go ahead and jump on them when I put one in with her so she would have company because she knows their gonna jump on her. I finally just gave up trying, and she has her own pen 16x10 and she is the friendliest chicken towards humans you will ever see. When I let her outside, she runs to me and loves me to pick her up and hold her.
Any critters that friended me, made my day. I have connected to various Animals over the years including a young Caiman (South American Alligator), I enjoyed every second of our time together.
