No. Just before buying my Permit for pro-rodeo, I gave myself the nickname of Cody and had everyone call me that. Heck, I even signed purchase orders, for companies I worked in Purchasing for, as "Cody". However, wife and I have been to Cody, Wyoming. Went thru Cody on our way to Yellowstone National Park. Also, went thru the Buffalo Bill Cody Museum in Cody.

So, "Cody" has stuck with me since 1989.

You never answered the question Cody. You instead replied about a Mexican celebration you attended in Florida. Do You Have Trouble Focusing?

My goodness. Am I going to get into trouble with you if I write about cinco de Mayo when I lived in Mexico?
And, are you going to ask me if I have ever been to “Bob” Virginia?(now known as Roanoke)

And, if I say something akin to May 5 1862 and the conflict between the French and Mexican armies at Puebla, will that also get me into trouble?

Well, just to be on the safe side, I’ll not post any of those things.

Now, for what we are doing for Cinco de Mayo...…..making tacos, having refried beans and a good/stout margarita. All at home.

To let anyone know, that looks or posts to this thread, there are two photos I've put on here showing a Cinco de Mayo celebration.

If you are not Mexican then there is no reason to celebrate. You can eat Mexican food any time.

It’s kind of a mixed bag. Most of the festivities are enjoyed by those living in the S. Western portion of the U.S. and Mexico which generally include a lot of food and drinking.

I have never been a party goer but when I lived on the Mexican side of Nogales I couldn’t help myself to enough of the Carne Asada that was featured on just about every street corner at one grab joint or another. As @Cody Fousnaugh has shown in his pics, there’s a lot of dancing and some pretty neat shows especially on the U.S. side of the border.
Funny thing. i asked my neighbors what they were doing for Cinco De Mayo since they definitely are Mexican and the first answer was nada but after thinking about it for a moment she said..Trevajo. Mucho trevajo.
In other words, no parties....just a lot of work.

The “mixed bag” thing I mentioned is the fact that the students in S. California are forbidden to wear anything that has an American value to it like a t-shirt with an American flag for instance but it’s okay for a student to wear something like a t-shirt with the Mexican flag printed on it.
I guess the students get into fights and such and for those in power, it’s just another move to be PC.
