Haven't been to one since early 80s. Looks like party days are over since I know no one who would invite me and I'm not capable nor eager to throw one myself. Expect I'll be in bed before midnight unless tv is exceptionally good.
Since I've never been a drinker or a partier, New Year's Eve has never been a big thing. I have attended a few such parties when invited by union officials when I was a member of the UPIU, and the mayor invited me to a couple of them when I worked for a city in Texas, but those were networking things, mostly, and I never came close to drinking a full glass of anything. In recent years, other than wishing one another a Happy New Year, we don't do much as far as New Year's Eve goes.
As a Food and Beverage pro, I have never officially “gone” to a New Year’s Eve Party but like Mardi Gras, I’ve had to sling a lot of drinks and prepare a lot of food for yeah.....a lot of years. Tonight though, I’m retired so I’m going to place the covers over my head and try to sleep through the neighborhood’s festivities.
The New Year and, at least in terms of numbers a new decade, another roaring twenties(?) has almost arrived in Europe. Wishing you all a healthy and peaceful New Year.
Even during my party years, I don't remember going to an actual New Years Eve party. I used to stay up with the kids though. Now, I'm just planning to go to bed my regular time.....and hope the constantly barking dog next door dies in 2020 from exhaustion.
