Sorry, Dave! ....but here's the thing....my Dad loved Phil Harris, especially "The Preacher and the Bear" and " Puff, puff, puff that cigarette"! HaHa!
One of my favorite singers from the Fifties was Tennessee Ernie Ford. He had one of the deepest and richest voices that I have ever heard, and I think that he didn't sing a song that was not a hit. One of the most famous (probably only after the legendary "Sixteen Tons") was this amazing rendition of "John Henry".
Yvonne, if you like Tennessee Ernie Ford then this one might make you smile…the children steal the show though
Great thread, I have enjoyed all of the memories. Phil Harris was one of my favorites when I was growing up. Hiroshima is a one of the groups I listen to now, I have several of their songs on my playlist.
Love anything to do with the 1920's. On Sunday nights around 11pm there was a radio station that played 1920's music. I kept an old yard sale radio by the bed. It still had the glass tubes and a wood case, but it worked. When I tuned that station in, and wifey was either in a good mood or a wee bit drunk, she would jump out of bed and do her imitation of the Charleston. Quite a sight. http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...&mid=2A9A5F9D4A49723E5AEC2A9A5F9D4A49723E5AEC
