Yeah, I'll throw that one back at you. I'm not shaming anyone. If your mask makes you feel good about yourself, wear it. I don't care. For a couple of years, we had someone in Millinocket who wore horns in his head. Some people would laugh, but most of us tried not to stare. He was tolerated. But then, he wasn't trying to make the rest of us wear horns on our heads.

    @Peter Renfro, Media's Fact Check. That's funny.

By the way, I think bicycle helmets are silly and, in Maine, adults are allowed to make their own decisions about wearing a helmet, whether on a bicycle or a motorcycle. On a motorcycle, I would choose to wear one, but that would be my choice. I haven’t flown since the dumb-ass TSA laws came into effect, and I wouldn’t do so, largely because of the unnecessary nonsense involved with flying these days. Smoking is still legal, as far as I know, judging from the fact that cigarettes and cigars are still sold in stores. Although I don't smoke, I have no objections to someone smoking around me, as long as it's not in my house. Just as I make such decisions for my own home, I believe that businesses, including restaurants, should be allowed to make these decisions regarding their own businesses.

As for seat belts, I don't believe they should be mandated by law, although I do believe that auto insurance companies could reasonably have such a requirement. I have rolled over four times in cars while not wearing a seatbelt, and that's not counting my uncle's car that we intentionally rolled over in a field dozens of times. I was in another car that hit an 18-wheeler at speeds in excess of 80 miles an hour and, while two people were killed in that accident, I wasn't even hospitalized. The police didn't even tell my dad about it, although I was a minor. My knee hurt for a few days, though.

And there is the problem .. there simply can not be a civil conversation without the few of you bashing, shaming and dismissing other people's thoughts and beliefs.

If you would say your peace people would see it. Have a nice discussion about it .. but you aren't capable of doing that.

Any time some ones posts what they prefer to do or believe you have to jump in and bash it piece by piece.

You do not want to allow some of us to present our opinions .. you only want yours heard and your intent is to dismiss ours and shove your side of things down our throats.

As much as I enjoy using the like button on this site .. where is the thumbs down button? That would be a nice addition .. people would be more inclined to say what they believe .. if you don't agree or don't like it then use the thumbs down so there is less confrontation.

Getting real tired of you guys insisting YOUR way is the ONLY way.

Hop down and let the rest of us who want to live do it our way without being bashed .

I don't give a hoot if you want to believe opposite of me .. that is your right.

What I don't get is why you won't let me have my rights to say what I want without all the slapbacks.

Just to avoid any confusion, what I’m getting is you’d rather be able to write your opinion and as in post #108, a very long opinion with no expectation of people using the same rights to post a counterpoint.
    Got it.

Note: I believe what you are looking for is a “blog”? Thumbs up, thumbs down...no replies only your own opinions.

Nobody is preventing you from voicing your opinion. I donn't know about other but when you try to lay a guilt trip on me because I don't believe as you do, I'm going to point out your hypocrisy. The is where you express opinions not where you get to decide the validity of the people's opinions

Nope .. enjoying a good spirited conversation is great. What is not great is being constantly told I am stupid, I need to "fact check", I am living in fear etc.

My suggestion for thumbs down was simple. More people might actually participate if they weren't going to be attacked and have their opinions ripped apart. You don't seem to notice that there are other's here who happen to agree with what I am saying .. you only notice yourself and those who agree with you.

It's no wonder more people won't type .. they don't want to be shredded so all they can do is like a comment ... why can't we thumbs down too?

Not at all ... I see a pattern here with a specific group who refuse to allow anyone else to have an opinion.

When those opinions are stated you tear them apart .. how is that allowing anyone to voice their opinion?

Nobody is trying to lay a guilt trip on you .. it's the other way around.

We should be able to express our opinions and have conversation .. but as I stated .. there are some of you who have taken charge here and refuse to allow anyone to have an opinion and just leave it alone.

You are the opinion police .. let them say how they feel without destroying them because they don't feel the way you do.

You know .. if you would do that you just might see a lot more people begin to participate.

My opinion is just as important as yours is. The way I live my life is just as important as yours is.

Why do you feel the need to attack what other people say when it doesn't jive with your thoughts?

Since I see nothing stupid about Maggie’s post, Al’s post and certainly not my post nor Ken’s, is the meme just a funny bit or a sort of post it reminder?

The meme has nothing to do with Maggies post.
Possibly I posted it in the wrong place. To me it is obvious that the sign poster is expressing his disdain for those refuse to recognize the pandemic for what it is. Anyone who at this point with the numbers available, the empirical evidence, that unprotected mass gatherings spread this disease fit the description.
The signs are posted by a guy local to me.

Oh, then You aren’t saying that anyone here is stupid, just a local guy in your town is saying that.
I just gotta keep things on the same page Pete otherwise it gets rather confusing.

Well Bob, I could not say that anyone on here is stupid. I am sure that it would be construed as a personal attack on someone, and I once again would be suspended. Any inference you make is totally in your mind,

    Very good sir.
Perhaps you are right that the meme might have been placed in the wrong thread. Normally, the post following a post or posts is called a reply to said post or posts but in your case it was just a faux pas in judgment. Again...got it.

I think that @Maggie Mae has a valid point , and I agree that no one should be attacked for their opinion about any topic. It is fine to have a differing opinion, and to share your side of the story, but there is no reason at all to attack a person for thinking, feeling, or believing something different than we ourself believe.
If someone thinks that they need to quarantine themself in their home, or wear a mask when they go somewhere, then that is their belief, and they can apply it to their own life, and likewise for the person who thinks the whole virus thing is being exploited and there is no danger for us to live a life without a mask , can apply that to their own life.
Just because people have differing thoughts , that does not mean that one is wrong and one is right, and the person who thinks differently should be attacked or shamed for their beliefs, and this goes both ways.

Since I enjoy conspiracy theories, and often post things in that section, there are almost always people who have NO interest in actual discussion , who go to the thread , just to say that they think that it is stupid to be interested in a conspiracy theory. It is the same basic thing, of attacking another person’s post just because you have a different opinion .
