It's a throwback to the 1970s in this KCET vintage session featuring country crooner Kris Kristofferson, whose low drawl and lonesome guitar strums made him an icon of the Western revival.

Yes I remember him from the 70's...and much as I'm a huge country fan, I have never really liked KK, for some reason he gives me the creeps..o_O

I'm not very big on country music and thought I might have liked a song or two of his but went and googled his songs and nope, nothing sounds familiar except "me and Bobby McGee" and I liked Janis Joplin singing that.

Never liked Glen Campbell either, I did like some songs but he's one that gave me the creeps.

Wasn't he the alcoholic wife beater? Or am I mistaken.

If I'm wrong, then I apologize. Could have been another country singer. Most did have problems with wine, whiskey and women. They even sang about it, lol.

@Chrissy Page - You're absolutely right Chrissy, wine, women and song it was
It was purely his voice I was referring to, not the private parts :p

    Lol, ok
Thought I might have tarnished his reputation needlessly!

Yes I did say I liked some of his songs and I'm not big on country. Was for a few years
    In the early 80's
Conway Twitty's songs could turn me on, lol
But looking back at him now ...ugh!

Maybe, yes George Jones was quite a mess. I've read things about most of the country singers but I can't remember who did what.

Edit: I looked it up and it's murky but this all happened when he was married to Tanya Tucker and both were messed up on drugs and alcohol. She said he did, he denied it.

KK was marrried to Tanya Tucker? I didn't know that I know he was married to rita coolidge...I can't abide Tanya tucker either, one of the very few female country singers along with rhonda vincent that I really dislike

OOh hang on just looked it up..TT was in a very short relationship with but no marriage to Glen campbell ...o_O although it has been reported that she was very easy with her favours with many people around nashville ...and yes I do know so many of them were drugged up to the eyeballs for many years during their careers.. so it's not surprising abuse happened

So, they weren't married? I thought I read he had 4 wives and she was 3rd I think. I just skimmed the article though.

I've never heard of Rhonda Vincent but then I'm not into country but the others were around the time I was.

Yep, sadly most were a hot mess.

Poor Glen is in sad shape now with Alzheimer's. He still alive though, right?

Yes he's still alive, but he is in a care home now, the alzheimers has got him 100% now, he doesn't know any of his family according to his wife's latest interview...very sad.. I liked Glen's music....and particularly the last album he made when he was quite severely affected with AZ...absolutely amazing how he managed to sing this...particularly as at the preview interview for the album, he had to keep asking his wife who she was..his mind was already gone, yet he still knew how to make great music..
They do say that music is the last thing to go in dementia and alzheimer patients...
