A chilly start to the day...had to turn the heat up! Hope you've had your first coffee of the day! If not, hang on!
Things are kinda slow...had time to read all the funnies! Today is open topic Monday, so we get to do whatever we feel like. We need to ease into the week, and cover all the bases! We got a delivery of pies and angry bird cakes, early this morning, so eat up!
It's 35 degrees here in NC so this morning I feel like a nice warm tea. Please pass me the newspaper when you're finished so I can have a few giggles over the funnies. Here's a giggle or two. Ladies, just ignore the comment from the guy on the left:
Lovely roses and those are the most scrumptious blueberry muffins I've ever laid eyes on. HiGoodbye Coffee sure has class.
Yes, Lara, we have tea and roses.....we have blueberry muffins & even a little class. but alas...we have no bananas, today!
There was an interesting article in today's paper. Is the universe shaped like a giant doughnut? WOW!....who knew? The Doughnut Universe
Good Monday morning to all. I woke up at 4:am today. The temperatures dropped last night, and my two indoor fur-babies woke me. They needed the outdoor facilities desperately. @Lara Moss, I drink a lot of tea in the fall and winter. When I was a child, coffee was so expensive that generally only my father got to have it. My mother would brew up a strong black tea for herself, and I have very early memories of drinking that tea with a honey, (My father kept bee hives most of his life.), with some can milk. So fall always has me brewing black loose tea, but now I use 1/2&1/2 instead of can milk. After the early morning, I go into coffee mode.
@Ina I. Wonder, that was interesting about your parents and the bee keeping. Many thanks to your father for taking care of the bees because without them we would not be here today as we know it. There would be no color, no delicious nutritious foods. We wouldn't have had pretty yellow roses this morning with our tea. It's amazing how important the bees are to our existence. Try Almond Milk for your tea. You don't have to refrigerate it before opening if you buy the kind on the shelf. I use "Unsweetened". It's good and healthy. The brand I've pictured is easily found in local chain grocery stores and drug stores. It's about as think as half and half I think. I buy an organic brand from Whole Foods called 365 but it's the same thing.
I agree, that beekeeping is a fascinating endeavor! Ina, have you ever had your own bees? The pace, around here, has been slow today....not exactly a bee-hive!
It's been slow at the HiGoodbye? Well, Doris Day just stopped in for tea with you. She'll cheer you up
Beekeeping, also known as Apiculture, was a manly occupation in my family. I was my father's only child, (a girl), so I wasn't taught to raise and care for the bees. I was only taught how to use the honey. But, now that I think on it, I believe I picked up quite a bit. It might be fun to read and learn how to set up a small hive, after I move up to the national forest. I know it would have a richer flavor.
