Yes like rebuilding our trashed economy for starters. With such a limited attendance the $millions that flow into our economy from the normal hundreds of thousands of revelers will be lost this year. Perhaps the broadcast is sold abroad every year as it is the first New Year display among all major western nations.

I think the fireworks was money well spent. We all need something to lift our spirits and watching them did lift mine. Plus, think how many people were employed with getting them done.
I was trying to remember a quote I once read. I think it's from an article in Reader's Digest. It is something like, "When you spend your money, put aside some for hyacinths for the soul." It means the we need to feed our souls as well as our bodies.
