I was debating whether to post this just finished it while I'm waiting for my wife she's in for her 6-month cancer exam. House on fire Something burning my wife declares She instinctively heads for the stairs She grabs my granddaughter takes her out of the smoke I then realized this is no joke Fire is too engulfed I cannot douse I head to the basement to shut the power to the house Without power The basement is dark To find my way out I need a landmark I feel the heating system pipes I know the way I think follow my path Don't go astray I trip over a box I start to swear Crawl until I find the stair Made it to the kitchen and I hear my name I look down the hall I see the flame I go out the front door There are fire trucks galore My family is safe what a relief It's all good I'll handle the grief
