The sun is out! But it is shining on 15 inches of new snow! and the negative temps arrive tomorrow. I was successful in putting up a windbreak outside of our overhead door. I am not sure if I should open the doorway or not for the sheep. They will be grumpy but I hope not too destructive for a few days.

Got 0.6 in. of rain last night. Temps in the upper 40s but dropping. Sustained period of cold weather coming up but it is January. Cloudy as usual this time of year.

We have one lonely degree here, just 1. No, you can’t have it.

I guess it’s a slight improvement over the big goose egg we had when I got up hours ago.

We have had some bad storms in the last week or so. Today has been nice except that it's windy. It's going to be colder than a well diggers butt later this week. I would say a witch's ***** but .................;):)

It's been windy and cold, but I had to go move and stack firewood. I had a couple of truckloads delivered today, and will have more delivered in a week or so.

We have some snow called for on Monday, and then several overnight temps in the low teens. But this is the time of year for it. MLK Day is around when when temps bottom out.

Just checked. It is -3. I have to go get a shower. I am so glad I have indoor plumbing as it will be down into negatives all week. However, I do have an emergency 'thunder mug' at the barnhouse. I think there is 18 inches of snow on the ground but I am not going to measure it.

You know, I think I understand why people go out when it's this cold. It's cold cold it's all the same only the body is affected. As long as you're dressed for it. Does that make sense?

There is a saying, perhaps originating in Scotland but used here. "There is no bad weather, just inappropriate clothing."

It’s -10 F here this morning. The sun is out but doing nothing to warm things up. I’m sitting in my recliner with a soft fuzzy lap robe and a warm furry cat on top of that. I have hot coffee and the thermostat is set on 68 and I’m still cold.

It must be all in my imagination.

The cold is still developing here in Alabama, but might snow tonight, according to the forecast . If that happens, things will be closed down for the next few days , because we have the possibility of snow and/or and ice storm, and at the very least, freezing rain. So, everything will be cold and slick, one way or another.
Since tomorrow is a holiday, many people do not have to work, kids will be out of school, and the ones that do have to work might be able to work from home.

We have the curtains pulled across the shut off all of the house except the living room, which is where we mostly are during the daytime. I have on my cozy plus pajama pants and shirt, and that is as dressed as I am getting for today ! I have my little electric heater turned on by my feet to keep me warm, too.
Bobby is going to try and get the little propane tanks filled, just in case we lose power, and have no heat at all, and hoping that he is able to do that.

I just saw a story that said recent Federal regulation "decarbonization" is causing freeze-ups of natural gas equipment in very cold weather, and that several freeze-ups have already occurred. Isn't that just great?
