We got sleet and freezing rain. Not a lot but enough to see it on the tree limbs. It's melting now. I can hear it dropping off the roof and crashing to the ground. The first time I heard it, I almost jumped out of my skin. :)

+14 F. and cloudy this morning. We got a bout 2" of snow overnight--just enough to brighten the world.

We still have the winter storm warning, but it looks like everything is past us now. We only got a scattering of snow early this morning, and since then, it has just been cold rain all day. It will probably freeze on tonight, which is never a good thing, either.

We got sleet/freezing rain for a few hours after about 3" of snow, and it's been light rain since about 7 or so that's just about done. It's gonna hit 36° at 11 and only drop a few degrees overnight, so there's not a hard freeze coming.

I look outside and see a fresh layer of snow with that hard crust on top. Most importantly, I still have power. We'll see what the winds do.

The snow started around 8 or so, not coming down heavy yet.

I'm about where the red dot is:

That looks like a horror movie to this southern boy. A 24" storm is something we see maybe every 15-20 years.

I watched this great weatherman on You Tube. He had a 15 minute video explaining this storm several days out while it still sat over the Pacific. It was very informative...I learned a lot. I now understand how they even knew then it was gonna hit us, and why they had a hard time predicting the specific track it was gonna take up the east coast.

One thing he mentioned is that there are a couple of systems parked north of you that are gonna cause this storm to sit right over the northeast.

apparently we had a power failure with the wind gusting some time last night...I woke up to lights o clocks flashing. But since Judy left I don't keep hearing aid on at night anymore so didn't hear the generator start.

We're getting sunshine but cold. No wind for a nice change here on the Pacific Coast. Really ominous info coming in about the Northeast, those pictures even give me the chills! I just couldn't do that "hard stuff" that some other States have to handle. Some snow and rain yes, but everyday it seems another part of the US is getting hit with weather that is literally killing people.

Yes, one of those "perfect storms" :( I love Youtube for finding info, but I'd like to see the one you saw @John Brunner I watch Weather a bit here and there, but haven't learned how they track it. Especially from the Pacific to our Eastern States.

Here's the first clip I saw this a.m. of the storm hitting Northeast:

This one is a bit more coverage of the actual "outdoors".

Just took these a few minutes ago. A good foot plus, and supposed to snow all day.

Not really unusual, it's just the first storm of the season.

I can hardly tear myself from that weather forecaster @Bruce Andrew but got an alert someone was posting here so I had to peek! That's your first snow this year? Dang, hope you have a generator!! It's just overwhelming to me because it's just rain, wind and more rain here ;)

Ok @John Brunner I'm all subscribed and this guy is good! I will put the youtube link here again if anyone wants to see the best weather prediction I believe I've ever seen! The video is from 4 days ago when these "models" (calls them) were made of the weather pattern from the Pacific Ocean back into the Northeast, and this goes down into I think it was Georgia as well, Louisiana, Arkansas, etc.

Overcast and cold as a mother in laws kiss. Great days for singing the blues.
