It's been in the 20s several times in the past week, lowest here was 24. We had flurries on Wednesday also, but none stuck on the ground. Although I know a guy who lives about 900' higher than I do, and he said the ground was covered for an hour or so.
@Cody Fousnaugh The old Colorado River, flowing through our area for perhaps some millions of years, has never seen the tiniest piece of ice, very rarely a few snowflakes..... That old man river, he just keeps on rolling along! Frank
It isn't excessively cold, but it's so windy I could hardly get around the door to grab my mail. Ick.
My November riding came to a screeching halt today with cool temps (i.e., low 50s), pouring rain and gusty winds. Add in the combination of wet leaves on the corners and sufficient water on the roads to hydroplane, today is no day for a motorcycle. The unpaved back roads I like will have slippery, slimy and snotty mud for days now. Bummer!.
Cold here we’ve had lots of rain / wind / storms ,we are in late spring ( summer next month ) 2 weeks ago we had 30+ C ( 87f) temps ….been on average 15-16 c ( 58F ) for last 10 days . We’d put away most of our winter woollies and had to drag them out again Hubs always records any daily rain we get ( we live in the driest state in Aust ) We’ve had more rain this year and this month since he stated recording it in 2012
It's been unseasonably warm here; up to the 80s a couple of days this week. Sunday morning, it is supposed to be 27 º.
Cold...windy....winter.....28 tonite...not happy with the cold... i fret over the lil critters outside...even the frogs in our pond
@Teresa Levitt , I used to have a small goldfish pond. Sometimes our temps got low enough that it would freeze over; maybe a half inch thick. When spring came and the ice melted, the frogs and goldfish would emerge apparently none the worse from the freezing cold.
we had larger ponds when we lived in NC....pumps ran and winters weren't as bad ......here...we have a floating heater...to keep from freezing over...first trial is tonight...
I remember those days. The coldest temp I ever rode in was 32 F but I didn't last long. If you really, really bundle up you are good for a few minutes but the wind finds it's way in.
Summer is definitely over. A light dusting of snow on the deck this morning. I still have a few daffodil bulbs to find a place for. We were heeling in stuff today because a hard freeze is coming Tuesday, I think. Potted stuff to winter over.
We ended up with a foot of snow from yesterday and last night, and the temperature has stayed below 20 F. since the cool down. It is predicted to be below 0 F. tonight and for several days. Our long nights and short days no longer have the power to warm things up during the day. Up north was -30 F. last night and that is expected to continue too.
