We generally have at least one or two snowstorms after we've been led to believe that winter was over, but it's starting to look like it here. Although it still snow some, particularly at night, more of it melts during the day than comes down at night.
It was 29/feels like 19 here in Alabama today, and that was almost at noon. Supposed to warm up some this week, so opting we are done with this arctic cold stuff for this year.
I have two chores I need to do while it is still freezing here at nite. One is to clear and sort the big chest freezer for a new supply of beef. And the other is to clear the stalagmites from under the chicken roosts while they are still frozen. The chickies sleep on top of the stall walls.
So tired of Cold. Saturday nights low was 12, last night 32. High today 50's wind ,wind and more wind this week . And as usual the rain that is coming, shows to pass us by- again.
Woke up this morning and it was cold. No, to be more specific, it is derned cold. Colder than a hooker’s heart as my dad would have said. 21 degrees. In mid March. In Alabama. Even the sunshine feels cold.
I got up early to take my car into the shop for repairs. It was 22°F. Since I've been retired, I cannot recall the last time I had to scrap ice off of my windshield. I do not like it.
I went to get the mail...heavy clouds, breezy. It is supposed to rain tomorrow, but I think the clouds have chosen today. Spring is arriving and it is going to be 68 here in Southern Nevada...night time is only down to high 40's. We've had a lot of wonderful rain lately, never enough, but we'll take what we can get. Looking forward to the down pours in July and August!
Today should be really nice except for wind. Yesterday I spent and hour and a half outside in the sun and walked around the place, helped water some grass seedlings. I truly enjoyed it. Hope to get out again today once other things have been done. I have been cooped up in this house way too long. High today , 77
Hardly went below freezing overnight, so today will be a big melt. Our dirt road is getting very muddy already and the snowbanks are still high on both sides. It may soon become impassable by regular car and I will have to use my jacked-up 4-wheel drive truck to get out. In town they are thawing the culverts getting ready for the runoff when the snow melts.
4 F. and clear. This is the 34th anniversary of our move to Alaska. That was the Easter Sunday after the Good Friday Exxon Valdez and we flew over the slick when we were approaching Anchorage airport.
