I'm all for integration of marriage - people need to accept it though for it to become a major player in world peace
and that is a long haul

I agree with Beth, it's a crock. What has it to do with world peace? World peace has to do with the civility and character of people not the color of one's skin.

You very slyly didn’t answer the question at hand Hal.
Do you or do you not care about interracial marriages (or coupling)?
If you have some reservations then you could care less because you care too much about it. If you have no reservations or no thoughts about it then you could not care less.
And, as a side bar, on which side of the subject do you care or not care less? i.e. are you sympathetic for those couples who suffer the onslaught of those who are against bi-racial couplings or does it not phase you at all?

Now, as for myself, I rent two homes to bi-racially married people. Whilst doing so it may seem that I couldn’t care less about it, it upsets me when I hear others making an issue of it which means that I do indeed care or rather, I could care less because I obviously care too much.

I think that a lot of racism is simply because people are taught/programmed to have that way of thinking. We have discussed in other threads that if you have a group of small children, they will all play with each other and get along just fine. They might be curious about skin color, just like little kids are curious about hair/eye color that is different than theirs, but it is curiosity and not discrimination.
People are programmed not only by the attitudes around them, but what they are told by government and other people living around them, and the customs that they grow up with.

A fine example of that is our president.
Part of the people here think that he is a great president who is dedicated to helping this country, and the other part think that he is an orange buffoon, and it is our belief about the same person, doing what he is doing, just a different perspective because of what people have been told about the president.

Well, where we live now, which is very, very different, demographics wise, than Jacksonville, Florida was, we've seen very little-to-none interracial marriage or even couples. Then again, the demographics here is 93% white, which is very high compared to Jacksonville.

How do we feel about the topic, well...…..we did choose to move here.

    Think again about what?

It's a crock because of the nature of people. There are many larger obstacles to overcome for world peace.

I am opposed to intermarriage. I believe that human beings should marry human beings and no other species.

More seriously though, intermarriage can involve more than marriage between people of different races. When people who are of different religions marry, that is also called intermarriage, and I can see some very valid reasons for someone not to want to do that. I wouldn't criticize someone who decided to marry someone of another religion, largely because it's none of my business, but I wouldn't think it would be a good idea for someone whose religion is important to them to marry someone of another religion.

Depending on a number of variables, there might be some problems to contend with in interracial marriage too, but I think they'd be more easily overcome. Recognizing the potential for a problem is not the same thing as disapproving, however.

Marriage is a decision made between two individuals so, unless I am one of those individuals, I don't have a problem with it. If I weren't already married, I don't think a person's race would even be a consideration for me, in choosing a partner. People are people. There is nothing in my life, that I am aware of, for which an interracial marriage would be a problem, but I couldn't see marrying someone of a vastly different religion.

The title of this thread asks about intermarriage, which can refer to race, religion, or caste. Miscegenation refers to race and I've answered that too. It could be a problem for some people, but I can't think of a reason why it would have been a problem for me. After all, I wouldn't be particularly interested in maintaining a friendship with anyone who disapproved of it, and I don't believe anyone in my immediate family would.

Can you envision a world where 99% of the population
There are people that envision a world where there is no religion of any kind and every person is racially and ethnically mixed as a being a solution to World Peace.
