I see our Primary Care Physician every six months unless I have a problem that I would need to see her for in between. I see my Optometrist once a year and my Dentist twice a year.

Yes I'm at the dentist twice a year...and I'm pedantic about my eye tests every 2 years. I have a high prescription for Hyperopia, so I like to keep it checked regularly .

I tell the VA "NO" and they respond with "you are in control of your own health". As far as supplements go, it is best to disclose them, especially if they are herbal, as there are a lot of interferences with herbals, but if it is just vitamins and amino acids...just don't mention them unless your doc is familiar with what they do.

Yeah, the “no” thing works alright when she asks me about flu and pneumonia shots and very recently the shingles vaccination because frankly, I really do not want another shot of anything unless for whatever reason I decide to start drinking alcohol. Then it will probably be scotch or a nice sherry.
Beyond that, she gets really, really grumpy if I do not pretend to at least listen to her.

And yes, most supplimentation should be as a physician directs but the problem is that my civilian PCP doesn’t know beans about bodybuilding. He’s so white (And skinny) that I nearly have to wear sunglasses to look at him when the light in the room reflects off of him.
Be that as it is, he is wll known among the elderly as being a great doctor even if he despises the use of a multivitamin and ANY kind of supplimentation other than the vitamin D-3 that I mentioned before. He even told me I can only have 1 cup of coffee a day but fortunately, he didn’t specify if I had to use a measured cup or a really, really HUGE coffee mug.

But, back to the OP, I really have not seen the good doctor (civilian) but 2 or 3 times in the last 3 years. His nurse practitioners do most of his clinical stuff and I only see them a couple times a year.

My VA doctor twice a year. Labs done first, then a week later, a consultation with the doctor about my labs. But, now with my cataract surgery in a few days, I've seen my eye surgeon a couple of times before the day of my surgery, then the day of surgery and for each check-up after each surgery.

None on what I would call a regular basis. Used to see a heart doctor twice a year, but he retired. Used to see a stomach doctor twice a year, but she never did much, just kept me in Nexium. Had the regular doctor take over the prescriptions, so she is gone. Regular doctor I only see once a year for checkup, unless I get the Flu. Not much for doctors. More for masseurs. Go in once or twice a month to have him run my big two-handed vibrating massager over my back. Feel great all week. I'd go every week if I won the lottery.

I see my sawbones twice a year for a checkup, or more frequently if a follow-up is required for some minor ailment.

She's a nice General Practitioner, from India.

I see my primary care doctor once a year for a checkup and again in six months so he can make his car payment. I see my dentist every six months. He has a car payment, too. My heart sometimes skips beats so I see a heart doctor once a year. His car payment isn't so high.
