i just take some advil pm if there's anything hurting ........that's what causes me not to sleep...pain
I get 8-10 hrs of deep restorative healing sleep and it some work to figure out my sleep routine that does this. I start my routine about 10PM readying my head for my pillow at 11:30 PM . I deal with a load of arthritis pain and hip replacement damage, so GOOD SLEEP is critical and VITAL. We all need GOOD SLEEP.
We can get arthritis pain also, but not nearly as bad as you get. I get it in both shoulders that came after rotator cuff surgery in each. I got a hip replacement in 2005 that must have gone a whole lot better than yours did. Wife and I both can have a hard time falling asleep. Some nights worse than others. But, if she takes a 1/2 CBD Gummy Square or a 200mg Motrin, either will help her sleep better. For me, it can be a nice shower before hitting the bed and/or a 1/2 CBD Gummy Square. One thing we both can be guaranteed of..........getting up in the middle of the night to urinate. Yes, we, sometimes, will drink to much before bedtime. Not so much beer, but water. Then, on our Mexican food night take-out, I will make us a good margarita that, later, can get us up. If there is a snowstorm or blizzard on the way for our area (by the foothills into the Rockies), we can feel it coming. It is extremely shocking how many older Seniors live in a winter/snow environment, like us.
The OA in my body came on at 18 in my lower back. I danced a LOT in my life starting at 12 and danced into 50's....then a hip replacement in 2010, advanced the OA worse, talk about body damage. I live in Sunny So Cal. But the last 2 winters have been the coldest I can recall in the 57 yrs of living here... Sugars don't help arthritis.
We know what So. California is like. I met my wife there (Costa Mesa), but neither of us were originally from there. And, it's not all that "sunny" all of the time. Anyway, before meeting my wife, I was a pretty avid square dancer, but once I got involved with rodeo/horses, I left the square dancing. Then, years later, after meeting her, I found out that she was taking brush-up lessons and I went with her. We even square danced at our wedding reception. We were also pretty good at country-western dancing. But, dancing is all gone today for us. Your're right, "sugars don't help arthritis" nor do they help with lowering blood glucose. But, for us...............well.
Oh I danced before marriage, married a guy with 3 left feet, and discoed t hru my life after our divorce. We had good intentions to make a marriage, but didn't work out, had a daughter and 2 grandkids from that marriage. This is good. I have nice memories and some not so nice ones. He's gone, beat himself up and didn't do supplements, drank a lot of booze.
I guess I sleep pretty good. My bed is my recliner. I get myself nice and comfy about 11 pm. have the tv on watching you0tube stuff. Have a tonic water next to my chair. Wake up about 1 to turn off TV and go back to sleep. If' I've drunk all of my soda water wake up around 3 to go to bathroom. If not wake up around 5 to go. In any case go back to sleep and wake up 5:30 - 6:30.
Yes, it might seem sort of "unbelievable", but there are quite a few Seniors that will sleep in a recliner. I had to sleep in one after my rotator cuff surgery, because I couldn't lay in bed. My wife slept in the bed, but the bedroom door was open and right next to the recliner I was in. We can take a nap in our electric recliners, but can't sleep all night in them.
MY wife couldn't sleep in a bed b ecuase of breathing so we both slept in recliners. With her gone, I have gotten used to it.
I usually sleep at least eight hours, sometimes longer; but lately I have been waking up in the wee hours of the morning because I need to go to the bathroom . As soon as I get out of bed, the dogs want out, so I let them out, and then wait up for a while before going back to sleep again. I have been lately reading about polyphenols and sirtuin and how important they are for heart health. Since coffee is one of the best foods for both of these, I have been drinking more coffee, regular in the morning, and decaf in the afternoon. Naturally, more coffee means waking up at night to go to the bathroom. I probably still get about the same overall sleep, but I do get up and have coffee in the middle of the night now, so it is not a solid sleep like I usually have. And here I am , having my cup of hot coffee with cardamom, a strawberry, and a medjool date. The dogs are back inside again, so I am headed back to bed and get the rest of my night’s sleep.
I finally tuned off my table shortly after 1 this morning. Normally it's off at 11 and I'll sleep til 6am
