    Poor @Chrissy Page, what an ordeal.

    There is a counterpart of that deadly highway here but it's actually an avenue called Commonwealth Avenue located in Quezon City which is part of the metro cities. The main culprits of the frequent road accidents in that avenue are the public buses that always race as a way of driving. Sometimes the accident would involve 2 of those buses with their crazy drivers giving their own alibi. But with the advent of the CCTV, those reckless drivers couldn't hide the truth anymore.

    What the government did was to impose a speed limit of 60 kph which is slower than 40 mph. Now there are still accidents but not that many anymore. Besides, the CCTV seemed to have discourage the racing of public buses.

    The speed on 99 is pretty fast. It might be 65mph but there isn't anybody that's going that slowly. In the left lane most are going 80 and if you're not you better move to the right lane which has all the semis and there are a lot so you either go 80 mph or get stuck between trucks.

    The speed on Pacheco Pass is 65mph also and some of those curves are sharp. Trucks go very slowly there because of the hills.

    The Main Street out of my subdivision is 45 mph, if I go out the other side that Main Street is 50 mph
    and they are just streets not hwys.

    High speed limits "facilitate" the flow of traffic, according to the planners and propagators of "Public Safety". For that reason, the State of Arizona entered on it's books a law which issues citation for "obstruction of traffic flow", even if the "obstructor" is speeding! Drive in the left lane of the freeway with a string of cars immediately behind you, even if you are 20 or 30 over, gets you a ticket!

    What? On 99 I go with the flow and that's about 80 mph. I've gotten a ticket on 152 for going 83 mph...I was probably the only one on the road there. It's such a flat, boring stretch of Hwy. that ticket cost me a lot because it was 18 mph over the speed limit...think my ticket coast $375 plus traffic school for a whole Saturday.

    Most of the accidents I see on 99 are caused by trucks or semis. It's full of them.

    I drive much the same as @Chrissy Page. We have speed limits of up to 75 or 80 mph here, and in many areas, the freeways are 6 to 8 lanes per side. If they are driving 85 or 90, so must you.

    I'll have to get over that when I move. The police will not be as busy or lenient where I'm going.

    Yep, I have to really watch when I'm driving. 85 doesn't feel fast to me. As a passenger it does though.

    @Chrissy Page
    My wife is overly squeamish constantly when I'm driving, but I ascribe that to her lack of control over the vehicle. I see little difference between her driving habits and mine.
