Lol, probably wouldn't keep the same color but this held up so well. Would go lighter but don't know what shade and it wouldn't be for me because I want out of here.

If you do not know what really "hard" water is like, here are our swamp cooler pads, after last cooling season's use. The pad material is shredded Aspen wood, nice and clean and fragrant when new. "Fresh" water soaks the wood shavings and is evaporated by huge amounts of air flowing through the pads, being cooled by the evaporation of the water, then the air flows through the house, providing a much less costly means of "air conditioning" than traditional A/C methods. Actually, "swamp cooling" predates A/C by maybe a couple of thousand years!

The "hard" constituents of the water collect as it evaporates, making the pad double or triple it's thickness and when dried out, very harsh and abrasive, hurts the hands to peel this stuff off the pad-holder. A once-annual chore in arid desert climates.

That's what I accomplished today! Frank

Actually, those cupboards above the fridge, are pretty worthless. Can't reach them, without a step stool, and I found things in there we hadn't used since we moved here 16 years ago.

Lol, @Dave Sun , I have no idea what I have in there. You peaked my curiosity, think I'll get a step stool and look.

I know what hard water is like ... have well water where I live. The calcium deposits on the water heater/faucets and pipes is terrible. What is really bad to look at, is BLACK appliances/tiles, etc.
I have all black appliances, and a black kitchen sink .....ohhhhhhhh ... I have to clean the sink with vegetable oil.
Hadn't a clue when my husband put it in. ... it was a time when black was 'it'.

Have seen on HGTV, modern bathrooms with black tiled bath showers. I just cringe when I see that!

@Ruby Begonia cleaning frig is something I need to put on my to-do list. Need to throw away bottles of salad dressing that have been sitting around awhile & replace with new ones.
