I wrote about this elsewhere on this forum, some while back: My best buddy that I grew up with has two toddler grandkids (I have no kids/grandkids). We've had a lot of discussions in the past two years about current events, which he admittedly does not keep up with, with enough depth to have any idea at all what is really going on.

I tell him a lot of stuff, much of which he probably doesn't believe. They've been in Florida since fall but will be back shortly and I'm sure he'll want to get together to BS.

For two years now, it's been "Too busy, it doesn't affect my life." Well it finally did. His son, DIL, and two toddlers were to fly down to Florida for Christmas, but cancelled the trip because they knew it would be impossible to keep a diaper on both ends of the 2 year-old girl while on the plane.

In some ways, although he would never admit it, I care more about his offspring than he does. For me, looking at 72 this summer, I'm pretty much powerless to stop anything BUT I do keep up and talk to friends about it almost daily. They are Trumpists but are clueless about what is going on behind the scenes and why it most likely is not going to get better -- except maybe temporarily like between now and the election.

The tyrants have learned what pushovers the American people are, and they will be back with whatever the next Crisis Porn will be. Being a born pessimist does not help my situation.

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." -- Henry Louis Mencken, 1880-1956

I find it rather ironic that the very people who are trying to disarm Americans are the ones trying to arm the Ukrainians.

Exactly! Plus worrying about their borders while our border is being invaded by the whole world. Killing innocents is a terrible thing no matter who it is, yet we should put ours first.
Last year hundreds of thousands of our kids died from crime and drugs coming across our borders. Cartel run gangs litter every major city.

Jesus told His disciples how history would unfold, in their short lifetimes, and in the coming centuries ahead of them if the world lasted so long (as it has). He told them plainly that it was NOT to scare them, but so that their joy would not be diminished when it happened. Thus it happened as Jesus told them.
Jesus is not on one of either of "both sides" of any side that says what is false, since He cannot lie nor sin, not even a little bit, not even once.
He does not teach His disciples to take one of the sides in this world , since Jesus (and His disciples) are yes still in the world, but not of the world. This makes all of the difference (if you can find any of Jesus' disciples, or become one of His disciples taught by Him).

Sometimes it seems we win the fight of good and evil and others we lose, I strive to do good much of the time, but many do,

    Galatians 5:17
For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want.

    Romans 7:15
    Struggling with Sin
…14We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I admit that the law is good.…

Sometimes I feel like we are fallen angels thrown down with Lucifer. There are some books in the Bible that highly hint this. I don't know but after much study I still don't know much. So I say prayers but lack in faith.

I agree but we no longer have rights to even speak out.

The world, the flesh, is carnal, and is at war with the spirit and the truth.

The apostles and other disciples in Scripture described, in the first century thru today, overcame and won the battle and the war, by faith in Jesus, by His Grace and His Power granted.
And they died martyrs, instead of denying Jesus.

Few today are willing to do so.

Jeff I do believe in God and say prayers all the time in Jesus name but then I'm not a religious person. I have studied the Bible for a long time and realized I can't be a perfect person so I just hope and pray. Hope I make sense. I really do try to be good .

Paraphrased quote of Jesus: "I Came not for the good, but for the unrighteous."

Comment found various places: "God Hates Religion, but He Loves People."

Note that most religious people worship something other than The Creator. They often trust in themselves to be okay, thus fail already.

Jesus told the Apostles and disciples not to trust in themselves, but to put all their trust in the Father in Heaven.

The Father in heaven, the Creator, is Faithful and True. Only He Is Able to Save Anyone.

Those babies are so beautiful. It is terrible what we, no, our ancestors, did to them.

I'm all for a Republic and capitalism, but the thing is people stop paying attention and they always fall into something else. Like the film you pet up, proves how leaders turn capitalism into CHRONY capitalism.

Faye, have you read about what their ancestors did to them too? All people and tribes do bad, and no tribe is perfect.
America was basically a no man's land waiting to be settled and civilized. I do agree we went overboard with the civilized part. Indian tribes were at war with each other continuously.
My ancestors were building high rises while the Indian was still in tent's eating corn the size of small pickle and killing off beast for clothing while we were attired in high cotton and imported silk plus animal hides. ;)
I'm very proud of my white ancestors.
For some reason the whole world is now blaming all problems on the white man which is ludicrous.

My European ancestors married into both American and Canadian Indians, so there is no history of my ancestors doing anything against either the settlers or the Indians. A great wrong was done on both sides and among the tribes before and after Europeans arrived. The point of my post was to remind all that we don't erase history, but learn from it. Just like the Democrat party was started by the KKK in the south. The Republicans were the party of Lincoln and still are in a general sense.

The point I like to make is how many crying about all the wrongs and environmental damage want to go back and live like the American Indian? Die at age 45 from "old age?" No one! The Chinese are a threat to the world and all this changing or rewriting history is going to be to our demise. Doesn't anyone see the parallel with the Indian tribes being put on reservations, poisoned, and controlled with alcohol, and how that is like the government now helping to break down private ownership, and poison our kids and people with dangerous narcotics that we once controlled? Opening our borders was the most insane thing and no other country has ever been that stupid.

Hopefully, the upcoming generation will know the real history and instead of tearing apart the nation and world, will use history to improve human behavior.
