I have the solution. Attach a long elastic cord to the cane and the other end to the floor in the center of the house. The, if you let go of the cane it will spring back to the center of the house. Of course you couldn't leave the house. And if you let go of the cane and it springs away from you I guess you have to crawl on all fours to the center of the house to get it back. Maybe I haven't thought this through enough.
You could get one of these: $23 on Amazon. You can tag up to 6 items, and the tag will beep when you are within 100 feet of it as you push it's color-corresponding button. Just don't misplace the transmitter There are a bunch of tracking tags that operate off of GPS so you can find them anywhere in town you may have left them, but I believe they may require a monthly subscription as well as a SmartPhone app.
I bought a replacement. My family has convinced me I left it out on the patio and someone carried it off because this is something I do on occasion.
If someone actually took your cane, you need to put up posters: Lost Walking cane [Give description] Owner has leprosy, really depends on cane for mobility
For things like lost canes that annoy us: The Oyster There once was an oyster Whose story I tell, Who found that some sand Had got into his shell. It was only a grain, But it gave him great pain. For oysters have feelings Although they’re so plain. Now, did he berate The harsh working of fate That had brought him To such a deplorable state? Did he curse at the government, Cry for election, And claim that the sea should Have given him protection? No – he sad to himself As he lay on a shell, Since I cannot remove it, I shall try to improve it. Now the years have rolled around, As the years always do, And he came to his ultimate Destiny – stew. And the small grain of sand That had bothered him so Was a beautiful pearl All richly aglow. Now the tale has a moral; For isn’t it grand What an oyster can do With a morsel of sand? What couldn’t we do If we’d only begin With some of the things That get under our skin. Author: Unknown
