I wonder these days how the fur trade is farring up on the north end of Vancouver Island, where years ago it thrived, the family I visited raising mink, and otter, and other fur bearing animals, but mostly mink. I shared military experience with a young man whose family had this business. I thought of him and his family when I read the article of furs sales banned in California. He became a pilot with Canadian National Airlines. I became a grunt in the oil patch. But once upon a time I did run a couple of traplines with them, on snowshoes. It was all in a days work for them. Almost put me in the hospital. Just some thoughts that run through my mind.
@Bill Boggs Well, as you can tell from this thread, most people aren't into furs any longer. It's probably not much of a business these days. I'm glad you were able to enjoy the excitement of it at some point.
