Ok as simple as it is my toaster quit on me yesterday. It was a Sunbeam 2-slice with wide slots for bagels. I purchased it online a couple of years ago for less than $20 so I got my money's worth. I have some Walmart gift cards so that's where I've been browsing. 24 pages of toasters and toaster ovens and accessories. So I'm looking for a good brand name for toaster to buy. How long ago was your last toaster purchase and was it better than the one it replaced?
The last toaster I bought was a cheap Proctor-Silex. I'm sure less than $20, made in Mexico. It's fine, except slow as molasses compared to the previous one, which was "vintage." I guess I've had it about 5 years. It does seem like it might be developing a hot spot on one side. Good luck. If you find a good one let us know.
Black and Decker still works just fine even though we've had it for years. It has the wider slots for bagels, etc. too. We don't buy expensive toasters, etc. as no matter how much you pay for something now days it is just not as well made as they used to be made years ago. So we buy inexpensive and so far the things we have bought last a long time for just the two of us.
We have been using this for about a year now. Made by Black and Decker. Extra wide slots, controls for frozen and extra lift. Does a pretty good job toasting bread. Paid about 20.00 at Walmart. ( comes in black also )
I have a Cuisinart that works very well, Von. Browns the toast very evenly on both sides and has wide slots for bagels. My previous toaster was a KitchenAid and it was a dud. Very uneven browning and one side of the heating elements failed within a year. I'd avoid another KitchenAid toaster. Here's the model I bought. I always like to check the reviews on products, too. CUISINART TOASTER
How long ago was your last toaster purchase and was it better than the one it replaced? It was about seven years ago. Not sure if it was better, but I liked it. I got it at Lowe's for a reasonable price. One of my favorite small appliances was a convection toaster oven. I cooked main courses in it. I used it all the time, except for company. It cooked faster and didn't heat up the kitchen.
My choice arrived Saturday. It is bigger than I expected. Black and Decker model. It was rated 4-stars (Walmart). This will be great when making toasted peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for my granddaughters.
Oh, that looks like a nice one, Von. Is the finish matte? I imagine that will be easier to keep fingerprints off than the stainless or chrome finish. And may I add that I am somewhat a toast hound; I absolutely love toast. But my all time favorite is "frying pan toast" over a campfire... buttered bread made on a cast iron skillet.
It feels sturdy not light either @Nancy Hart. No matte finish but will be easy to clean by a quick wipe of a damp cloth @Beth Gallagher.
We decided to get a toaster oven after our toaster went to toaster heaven. It takes a bit longer, but I like being able to make grilled cheese in it, as the toaster oven doesn't burn my fingers as readily as the broiler.
I was shopping for my walmart groceries today, and for some reason, this deluxe toaster oven popped up in my list of things to look for. It sells for about $169 on both Amazon and Walmart; but right now, Walmart had it on sale for $68. Our toaster oven is old, and this one is also an air fryer as well as a rotisserie, and I have several walmart gift cards (that I get from Humana advantage plan); so I ordered one for us. This seems like a really good deal if anyone is wanting a new toaster oven. The picture from Amazon is better than the Walmart one; but this is the exact same one that Walmart has on sale.
