Yvonne never had an email account! We were discussing that this morning at the Senior Citizens Club. She uses her tablet for record-keeping or something.

My wife has a great big Tablet, and she was never online, never had an email address, doesn't have WiFi, doesn't do Kindle, and doesn't do Google!

She just uses her tablet for
    PLAYING GAMES!

I can't ask Yvonne what you want me to ask her, because I only see her on Friday mornings at the Club, and she doesn't return the calls I leave on her machine.

If you don't want to cooperate by using the Postal Service, then forget it.

I'll go to "Pets & Critters", maybe someone there can help me.

    Hal

@Hal Pollner, do the math. 7 days from today is Friday. If my wife used the postal service, it would take far longer to get and give the full amount of information that your lady friend would need.
Coupled with that, your lady friend doesn’t know my wife from Adam’s house cat and for her to just suddenly barge into your friends life via mail or email unannounced would be a definite no-no.

PLUS, the senior center no doubt has people on board that can help her with any problem she may have with her tablet.

Now, I think that you do indeed owe Yvonne an apology for your statement about her being uncooperative. If you look at the times on her posts to you, she more than cooperated with you and to me, you should be grateful that she spent a couple of hours on you when she could have spent it doing something far more satisfying.

@Hal Pollner, no offense intended, but nearly every time you pose a problem that you reportedly want help with, you insist that every possible answer given is impossible, or that it doesn't work, even though it works for everyone else on the planet, and then you get angry with anyone who is trying to help you. It seems to me that you don't actually want an answer to anything. That facts are that she is not going to be able to access the forum without an Internet connection. Most Internet connections come with an email address and, if not, she can get one from gmail.com or any of a number of free Internet providers. You have Internet, so apparently, you were able to figure that out at some point in time. If she can't afford an Internet connection, most cities have several options for free Internet, such as the library or a restaurant.

    If you eople feel
Bobby, my friend Yvonne is in absolutely no hurry to go online, and may not even be interested in ever going online!

She has a Tablet that she uses for some housekeeping records or game-playing. I'm trying to get her interested in being email "pen-pals" with me, but she may not even want to do that.

Yes, we even have a Computer class for beginners at the club, which Yvonne is aware of.

    So it's no big deal!

Just be friendly enough to wish me a Happy Birthday on the 11th...I'll be 83. And don't forget Lon who will be 85 the next day, July 12!

Yvonne Smith, I was in error in saying that you were being uncooperative...I know you enjoyed trying to be helpful to me...it's your reward!

Ah, yes I see what you mean about her being rewarded. She had such an afterglow this morning when she came out to the porch and perhaps a bit of a type of halo signifying that she had yet again, spent an unusual amount of time helping someone who always, at the end of it all, repugnantly stomps off.

And, so far as birthdays, I hesitate wishing someone a happy birthday for after all, no one is happy on their birth day. A lot of crying and getting smacked by a doctor or nurse isn’t the type of thing I celebrate. Seems rather barbaric. Other than the actual beginning of another human life, I can’s see anything happy about it.
I might however, say something akin to one’s anniversary of their birth but it’s rare, very rare because in truth, why should one be reminded of that original deed and all the troubles that ensued throughout one’s life and the upcoming natural circumstances of that life?
Why, on my own anniversary of my birth, I simply thank God for another day and chance to get things right.
Since I retired, there are some years when the only way I am reminded of my upcoming anniversary is when I open my IPad and Face Book tells me so, otherwise, it’s like any other day.

    Gee, Bobby...That sounds kinda sad.:(o_O

Anyway, my wife bought a tablet and she had a friend load a couple dozen games on it.

She even has Bowling, Ping-Pong, Pinball, Solitaire, etc.

She plays these games by using her finger on the screen!

    This probably involves capacitive coupling.

Nope, not sad at all. Celebrating each day and relishing the idea of what it will bring is important to me and much more satisfying than focusing on a singular day.

Touch screen isn’t really anything new and does allow one some freedom instead of using a mouse. That said, I have seen some spplications when a mouse is preferred. The only thing I do not like about all my touch screens is the fact that they have to be cleaned constantly from all the fingerprints but other than that, I enjoy what I have.
I especially like my IPad Pro because I can use a special pencil or my finger. I have all sorts of drawing applications I can use plus plus......
It just adds a lot more depth to the whole scenario of using a computing device.

I think that all tablets have had touchscreen for many years now, @Hal Pollner , and my first iPad, around 2011 was my first experience with using a touchscreen.
Once I learned how to use it, I fell in love, and never looked back !

Like Bobby mentioned, he uses his iPad for drawing, blueprints , and even with his amazing microscope app, as well as the games he enjoys playing on his tablet.
I like using mine for editing photos, and learning to paint a little bit with mine. There are just some amazing paintings , done with nothing but using your finger on a touchscreen.
I love the Apple Live Photo’s, where you can take a picture with your camera, and when you touch the screen, the picture actually comes to life for a few seconds...... that is just SO totally awesome !
Another use that I want to learn more with a touchscreen, is being able to play music with my iPad. Here is the theme from Somewhere in Time, played on a touchscreen tablet , using the Garage Band app.
    Listen and be amazed.....

My wife has a Tablet and the last thing she wants to do is go online with it!

She enjoys Bowling, Ping Ping, & other regular people games!

Ya can’t haul it to the steak and stein. Imagine if you will, being able to serenade the folks at the next table whilst the gentleman pops the question to his lovely lady. If you play sweetly enough, she might even say yes whilst the to be groom pays for your steak.
Everyone including the owner of the restaurant would be amazed at your skill and thoughtfulness whilst your fingers dance over the IPad piano.

Of course, a year or so later the groom may sue you during a divorce hearing but, it’s the thought that counts.

I know you can get Internet access from Smart Phones...I've seen it demonstrated, but can you surf the web from a Tablet?

I'm doing research for a lady who is a family friend, who thinks it would be nice to be able to get Internet information without needing a Laptop or a Desktop computer.

At Best Buy today, I was shown a Smart Phone for $50, with prepaid 3GB Verizon service for $45 per month.

She thought that was reasonable and affordable and would prefer it to a Tablet.

    Comments?

As long as there is an internet connection available, you can access the web with either device.
