I mentioned the medical conditions and, then, the medical opinion.
About aborting the fetus...it has nothing to do with its conditions but with the desire of the woman...regardless of the fetus being healthy or with 100 congenital defects.

"Ultimately it is the womans choice however in a committed relationship it can involve input from the father." Have you ever worked in health care? Decisions are not black and white and often others are included in the decision making process. Conversations happen before the final decision is made.

What kind of relationship exists when someone is more concerned about their "right" to make their own decisons more than discussing them with their partner. Without taking their opinion into consideration? Conversations do not remove a womans right to make their own decisions. How would you feel if your partner made decisions without discussing them with you? How would you feel if your husband went and got a vasectomy without discussing it with you? Suppose you were blindsided and had wanted more kids? What do you think that would do to your relationship? Like most things it is not an "all or nothing" situation but somewhere in between and in that in-between conversations occur. Not all women who have abortions are single and free of relationships and therefore there would be not be the problem of having a conversations about their decision.

See, the conversation(s) are unnecessary since the one who suffers the pregnancy / delivery is the woman. May be, one day, men will realize they don't get pregnant......that their bodies don't suffer all the changes a woman's does.

A man said "If men could get pregnant abortion would be sacrosanct.

BTW, yes, I worked in the Dep. of Social Services and I was a teacher for over 26 years; I was exposed to all kinds of pregnancies.

I have to add this to the argument. Having birthed two sons I can say with total certainty that 9 months of pregnancy and the childbirth experience is NOTHING compared to the following 20 years or so. :D (Teenage boys should fall under the "late-term abortion" thing.*)

    * Joke, for the sense-of-humor impaired.

When you learn the difference between people and fetuses you will answer your own question.

I think we are talking about two different issues. The first being should abortions be legal and that women have the ultimate say in obtaining one and on that point we agree. The second issue is should others have a say in a woman's choice. The fact is that people do have input in other peoples lives and decisions. This pertains not just to abortion but to such things as end of life decisions for example. It is not unusual for families to disgree on letting "mom" go even though "mom" has a DNR/DNI. We are bound by law to honor that DNR/DNI however we need to get everyone on board in accepting that decison sometimes. Emotions are involved. In health care it is seldom that people make decisions completely independent from the input of others.

The government should not have a say in individual decisions about ones health care, including the right to die, without getting a certificate of non compos mentis.

"Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973), was a landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roe_v._Wade
The problem with this as I see it is in the words "without excessive government restriction." Who makes that decision? Since most government legisslatures are made up of men it seems they do, the ones don't get pregnant.
