    @Hal Pollner
    Top to bottom:
Ruger Super Blackhawk, .44 Magnum (?)
    Ruger .22 LR, model unknown
    Smith & Wesson, N-Frame, likely also .44 Magnum, so Model 29 (?)
    Ruger Blackhawk, .357 Magnum (?)

Of course, dependence on police when in dire emergency, a phone call brings protection in only 30 minutes!

Here's one of the best gun control speeches I've heard in awhile.

YouTube will probably be removing it. If so, it can also be found on the News & Observer site.

Regarding the Hither Green " murder " case, the Police dropped all charges, though the home-owner and his wife have had to move due to harassment.
The burglar's family apparently are all traveller's and they live by different rules than the rest of us.

The worst attack (reportedly) in UK history against children took place at a dance studio. Eleven people were stabbed and three of the children died. The suspect reportedly was first thought to be an immigrant, but was actually the child of immigrants from Africa. A knife was reportedly used as the weapon.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/30/world/europe/southport-stabbing-uk-suspect.html

There was a violent reaction. Apparently being upset about the death and stabbing of children is now a sign of Right Wing extremism.

Killing is a matter of will; not the availability of weapons. If it weren't, anyone you placed a gun in the hands of (including the Pope or Ghandi) would automatically start killing people.

    Good morning to all-
I don't believe any realistic gun controller ever said that guns are the reason people kill other people. Guns are just tools, and people are good at using tools.
People have been killing other people since we climbed down out of the trees.

But for a realistic gun controller- as I am- the whole point is that high volume, rapid fire military style guns make it so easy for some person with a problem to kill a lot of other people very quickly.

No civilian has need of a rapid-fire, large capacity military style weapon. Quite few people WANT these kinds of weapons, but very, very few really NEED this sort of people killer.

Too many guns. Too many crazy people- bad combination.

you all be safe and keep well-
    Ed

Handguns are, by far, the most common murder weapon used in the United States, and because they are cheap, .22 handguns are the most commonly used.

    Good morning to all-
Ken, you make a very good point here. Handguns need to be strictly controlled also. I realize I am a voice crying in the wilderness on this point, but it is a simple thing, really. there are too many guns, and it is too easy for ANYONE to get a gun- legally or otherwise. There are so many guns everywhere, any kind of limitation is not going to work.
But that doesn't mean the situation we're in now is right- it's not.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

Then it would be on to another and another, until guns are banned entirely, except for the elite, who will be trusted with them. After all, they need to keep the rest of us in our places. Then, as has been the case where guns have been banned, they'll go after the knives. What's next? Baseball bats? Why not go after the root causes of violence rather than the tools that people use? If I'm being cheated by a roofing company, do we ban roofing material?

    Good morning to all-
Ken, the root cause of violence is people against other people. I don't think we can ban people- although, there are some people the world would be a better place without.

But perhaps if certain people did not have such easy access to "tools of violence" they couldn't hurt quite as many other people.

Look, I understand that nothing is ever going to be done about gun control. There will be no banning of any kind of guns. too many companies are making too much money over gun sales to think they will ever be limited in any way. but that doesn't mean we all have to stand there and accept the status quo. How many people have to die from gun violence?

More than have died already, I guess.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed
