Hey Patsy, I had a friend in England who sent pictures of all the poppies that are on display during what we call veterans day. One of the Hallmarks was a ceramic poppy drawing which my friend, a veteran of the British Army received. The number of his poppy was something like # 4 out of I do not know how many poppies were issued but it was really special to him to have received it. Just curious, with all the Covid stuff going on, does England still put on the poppy displays and have the drawing?
Today also marks the 102nd anniversary of the signing of the Armistice ending the "War To End All Wars" on November 11, 1918. "Over there, over there, send the word, send the word to beware, That the Yanks are comin, the Yanks are comin', there's drum, drum, drummin' everywhere..." (Thank you George M. Cohan) Hal
Hi Bobby - I have shown pictures in the past of our poppy displays, this one below is close to where I live .... @Bobby Cole
Every year without fail, only this year have the numbers had to be curtailed, which is a shame - usually so many attend events right across the country
Thanks Cody but somehow it doesn’t have the ring it should have. We have American citizens, some of whom I do imagine are veterans who are basically in captivity in Afghanistan and have no way out but it would seem that our present leadership doesn’t care. Of course I do pray and give thanks for all those who gave their lives and those who are still living for making and keeping our country free but until our people are brought home I’m just not in a celebratory mood.
