My friend also had stem cell therapy using cells from his own fat, but said he would not do it again, as the results were not as good as the PRP and it was much more expensive. He had it done in Hawaii, but I don't know specifically where. He lives part time on Maui.

My wife also had some replacements..
She had her right knee replaced about 5 years ago and there is nothing wrong with the results.. Perfect in every way..
NOW..... she also had a total ankle replacement on her left ankle 2 years ago and she feels like there wasn't a replacement at all..
There isn't anything she can't do at all and obviously no pain or restrictions.. She went this winter cross-country skiing without any problem.. She walks the dog almost daily (weather permitting) for about 25 minutes.. Stairs are NO problem either..
Like me, walking on rough terrain, like those mountain trails, are a bit of a problem.. Other than that, everything is OK.....

Again I must emphasize that the physiotherapy after surgery is very important..
For her ankle, 6 months, twice a week, was her physio..
For her knee, 4 1/2 months again twice a week for physio..

Actually, my hip replacement was due to Degenerative Bone Disease in the hip. Very little cartilage left in it. I walked with a limp before the surgery.
Both of the rotator cuff surgeries were due to completely torn tendons in the shoulder that the surgeon had to anchor back down.

I hear and read stories like yours and I find the same with horror stories. Another person on a group is talking about the misery they are going thru right now with ankle surgery. I have OA in right foot and ankle (all hip related) and can't imagine a foot surgery. Hiking etc are not my goals anymore.

Glad you guys had good results...I did NOT. I'm wearing out from pysio work...I was in hospital and rehabs for 4.5 months from knee staph infection....I did not walk for about 3 months....Been thru the wringer. j

When I finally went to ortho surgeon and saw the xray of hip area, there were massive amounts of jagged spurs around the groin area...this was the area that finally had me waking up at night. No more groin pain but a lot of surgery complications.

Yes, I'm hearing more good results with PRP vs Stem Cells... As I've said I've had only the original Prolo dextrose injections. The last one left me with a bacterial infection, grrrrr, long ugly story and rehab.

As the PRP/Stem Cell MD here in West LA says these major replacement surgeries are from the dinosaur ages, PRP and Prolo and Stem Cells are not covered by insurance as they work for many people and this work would put the hospital OR's out of business, big time. Hospitals make a major portion of their money with these joint surgeries.

for their patients to do a invasive, liberal, dangerous surgery and the doc's Cash Register
is going cachang cachang cachang.... Surgeries are far far far from Conservative ...

And also all the steroids docs inject in the knee joints, damages the joints more and more
and eats up what cartlidge, and then the steroid injections that do more damage to the joints..
    Eat up the cartlidge.

So many do these replacements and do have cartlidge in the joint, they walk, then bend their knees and many don't have pain, but that Bone on Bone....here comes, often an unnecessary major surgery....and the outcome could be so worse than what they had.

My friend just got the "bone on bone" from an ortho doc yesterday, and she walks, bends her knees and has NO PAIN but the doc is trying to convince her she is doomed....

Those 3 words are favorites of the joint surgeons. $$$$$$$$

I live with a damaged knee from hip replacement mess and doing all I know how to
to keep the knives from my body.

Medicine and surgeries come with great price tags.....

Question Question Question and THINK about what is going to be done or what has
been done to your body. I can think deeper now that I've experienced damage.

My dear mom had a horrible bunion and I remember how she used to
cut holes in her tennis shoes to fit her foot in the shoes. She would NEVER
do a surgery and avoided doctors. So did dad.

I feel your bunion pain, Teresa. I have bunions too---born with them I think. It seems to be an inherited trait in my family. My bunions hurt horribly as a youngster. I don't think I had much of a shoe choice at that age. I wore whatever my mother bought. I remember my dad always trying to stretch his shoes with devices or taking them to the shoe store to have them stretched. That was back in the days where the shoe store had a cobbler that could resole your boots or shoes, or whatever may be needed to done to extend the life of foot wear. But like you, when I changed my shoe width many many years ago; no more pain. :)

Here is a conversation from a guy who called in to Dr. Darrow today, Darrow is the Prolotherapy MD.

A man called in about his mother who is 73 and bed ridden, The poor woman has been thru 6 back surgeries and is worse off than ever, duh...this is normal.

He was calling in for her knees and back and the saga of being told bone on bone...Darrow says and I hear this all the time, everyone gets this dx, bone on bone.....blah I say.

You can walk now, even if it's not the greatest, keep walking and keep knives from
    our body. j

Re-growing , or healing, the joints has been accomplished for over a century.
It may not always be possible, but usually is (used to be do-able nine out of ten times anyways).
The money was in favor of not healing though,
so the power that controlled went (and goes) that way also. Overwhelmingly.

I read this before somewhere ....

A woman had spent all of her money on doctors for many years, and was not helped.

Then, someone told her the truth, and healed her.

    How was she healed????

Talking to a friend the other day and she bought a little exercise type thing
and ended up supposedly "throwing her back out" so her doc says and she's in
a lot of pain and can't take anything stronger than tylenol, so she's going for a hip job of some kind, she believed the surgeon and is going for it at 92, says she does not
care if she dies doing it. Hoping for the best is what she's going for. She knows of my
misery but I can take a little stronger pain otc and I manage and I'm about 10 yrs
    younger than her.

    Random thoughts.

She should get another opinion, maybe several, before any kind of surgery - most surgeries performed, or claimed to be needed, are not needed, they taught us in the 80's in medical and pharmacy schools. Also, other 'healers' have ways the doctor she saw won't tell her about.
Also, for pain, digestive enzymes, at least until they are banned, still work without danger and without side effects, better than any prescription does.

Thanks for your ideas, and I'll mention this to her as she is the type who takes the FIRST doc she sees opinion, and I'll mention the digestive enzymes, she lives in a retirement home and relies on her daughter to take her everywhere and buy her stuff...so I'll mention it at least, plant a "seed". At least she started taking Grape Seed Extract on my advice about 15 yrs ago, lots of neuropathy issues from cancer treatments... I'll call her tomorrow, can't hurt. thanks again.
