The B-25 light bomber was called the "Mitchell", in honor of Gen. Billy Mitchell, who advocated major roles for aircraft in the War. (WW2) It was a squadron of 16 B-25's who made the bombing raid on Tokyo as our first "Crack against the Japs" following Pearl Harbor. They all flew off the carrier "Hornet" and a few came back.
