When I moved to my current house in 2010, it had been renovated by an investor, and there were no appliances. I brought none of my own. So I subscribed to CR, because I was buying a fridge, washer, dryer, etc. I graphed the CR ratings for each model and the owner reviews. I also rolled the reviews up for each appliance type (yeh, I'm one of those.) Without fail, the CR reviews were the complete opposite of the owner reviews. So I know what you're saying. I bought that mattress in the early 90s...maybe even earlier. I have no idea how good/bad CR was back then. I once had friend who would never make a move without reading CR first. I shared my graphs with him. I don't think I swayed him.
