Some of these pix make me think I could survive parts of Australia although a lot of her terrain intimidates me. Can you recommend some books on plants, preferably edible, of the country? I would think the Aboriginal women would have some amazing ones on plant foods and medicines.
This on Amazon @Mary Stetler https://www.amazon.com.au/Wild-Food...1&psc=1&mcid=603b8a59ce2631109501a4e779e2eec9
We’ve always eaten Quandongs https://www.bushfoodshop.com.au/quandong/ They grow wild in some areas , they are very tart / dryish / very thin type of fruit and are mainly used for stewing for making into pies or jams but can be eaten raw ( when they turn red ) They grow in mainly arid areas They have a strange growing habit of only growing if they can ….and do …attach themselves to another tree or shrub it’s the only way they will grow , it’s very rare if anyone has a tree growing in a backyard
The book at the site is out of stock for the moment. Another I saw there is only on kindle But I will keep looking now that I know amazon is a source, thanks!
We are heading off to a warmer part of Aussie land in about 2 weeks time , we are heading for this area which is the border of New South Wales and Queensland If you look at the left of photo that is the state of NSW ….to,the right is Queensland Footpath is the border marking ….strangest border I’ve seen in my extensive travels of Australia The huge A frame looking thing is a border marker in the middle of a huge roundabout
We arrived in Queensland on Monday, Photo taken from the balcony of the unit where we are in Coolangatta QLD
Thanks for the pix! So glad you found a way to stay in touch. You might consider staying out of the sun. It seems to have a bluing effect on your skin.
