Odors sometimes come up in products where they are not expected. Several months ago, I ordered some condensed air, of the sort that can be used for blowing cat hair out of my computers and keyboards. It did that, but it smelled like a composting corpse. The smell didn't last long but it was really bad. I left a review that mentioned that and the seller refunded my money. I continued using the stuff but I had to leave the room after spraying it.
I just got an advert for this via email: Only $15 to mass-slice cherry tomatoes! Thank you, Williams Sonoma.
I just added this to my shopping list: It's a small 1/4 cup (4TB) measure. It looks like a handy thing for measuring out tablespoons of liquid rather than struggling with a measuring spoon and its attendant spillage. Should be good for measuring out oils, lime & lemon juice, etc.
I could use one of those for the hummingbird feeder. To measure out sugar for fractional cups of water. I've only seen one hummer so far this year. Oh, and also for mixing oil with gasoline for the trim saw.
I hadn't thought of using it to mix 2 cycle oil or gas stabilizer. If you go on Amazon or Walmart, you'll see they sell glass jiggers that are labeled for measuring. They may hold up better than plastic. I'll have to get me a couple of those, too. I've not kept my eye out for hummingbirds. Putting out feeders is an inconsistent thing for me...the suction cups come loose and I get a sticky mess splashed all over my porch and house.
Do any of you have one of these... How do you like it? I'm thinking of getting it to: -shred carrots -shred soft cheeses -grate hard cheeses I'm particularly interested in feedback on the grating capabilities. None of the videos on these things show how finely they grate...I don't just want a "fine shred."
Do you have a food processor? It will do all of that and more. I have some attachments for my Kitchenaid mixer that will grate, slice, etc. but I never use them. Honestly I usually drag out a manual grater for the small amounts I need these days.
My food processor shreds but does not grate. The holes in the discs are too large. I just read that pulsing the cheese in the food processor will grate it. I was gonna mass-shred carrots and apples for these oats I've been eating (I'm tired of the box grater), and I usually grate an entire block of Parm-Reggiano and then vacuum seal/freeze it...it hits its expiry date before I use it all. Maybe I'll look for a cheap hand one and try it.
My food processor blade slices on one side, and grates the other way up. It says on the blade which side to use. I am going to grate some apples and carrots for my breakfast oats, too. I think that even the regular chopping blade will work to make everything small enough to cook easily.
I was gonna put this in a "How Dumb Can We Get?" thread, but I'll put it here. I don't know if you all have seen the commercial for containers with stretchable lids: I guess the idea is: (a) if you overfill the container, don't use the next size up, just stretch the lid over it. The corollary is (b) if the food fits in the container, dump it into the next smallest one so you can stretch the lid over it I can see parents standing at the fridge, screaming to no one in particular: "Who put the food in the right container???? I paid good money for these things!!!"
I have one, but never use it. Sorry, nothing from me. One of the few things about which I do not have an opinion....
