I had one years ago that came with a Pfaltzgraff pie plate that I bought. I have no idea what happened to the bird though I still have the pie dish. My grandma had them and used them in fruit pies.
I don't know if these have been mentioned yet in their various iterations (sandwich press, waffle iron): I bought one with a variety of plates, used it once to make a sandwich (maybe twice), had it take up space for years, gave it to Goodwill, then years later fell prey to failing memory and a sale, bought another one, used it once to make a sandwich (maybe twice), had it take up space for years, and gave it to Goodwill. Then I stopped. I have a cast iron skillet and the lid to a stainless steel pot that sits over most anything to hold in the heat. That setup makes a great grilled sandwich and fried burgers. Most other cooking gadgets (like my Showtime Rotisserie) got used quite a bit and then passed on due to space issues and because I moved beyond that phase of my cooking. These presses never got past the first date.
I knew a single female who used hers extensively. We, however, have enough stuff already. I don't know where we would put one even if we wanted one.
The thing I hate most about the air fryer is that it's hard to clean and is constantly in need of it.
Do you have the type with the "drawer" container? I have a system. As soon as I dump the cooked food out, I fill the basket thing with hot water and dish soap and let it soak while we eat. Cleans up fast and easy, then I just swipe the inside cavity of the fryer with a damp dishcloth.
No. There is a shallow, removable pan to collect the liquids. That is easy enough to clean, but guck is splattered all over the sides, the top, and the door of the thing, and soon hardens. One problem is that my wife does the cooking, and I do the dishes, so I don't usually even know when she has used the air fryer until I notice what a mess it is.
I like my new silicone reusable bags! Good for storage in freezer or fridge, or cabinet. Dishwasher safe. Eliminates all the baggie buying.
these things are great- for me at least. got gorrila ones from Amazon, but Walmart has them, and other places now.only problem for me- sometimes is closing them up good,
OMG. I ordered a set of those from QVC months ago and I haven't bothered to open them yet. I keep thinking what a hassle it will be to wash them. Wouldn't they float all around in the dishwasher?
i hand wash mine. Seems to me easy to me. then I spread them open with a cup or hand dry with towel.. sometimes both ways.
I've been on a kitchen gadget tear recently. Currently researching a new hand mixer. I've had a Kitchenaid 9-speed mixer for over 10 years and it's beginning to get sluggish (and let's face it, I want a new one. ) So I noticed that Breville has a hand mixer that is loaded with features... even a light. When did it get so dark in a mixing bowl that a mixer needs a headlight???? Of course like most Breville small electrics it costs significantly more than other brands. https://smile.amazon.com/Breville-B...r/dp/B00XBOXUWC/ref=psdc_289931_t3_B00CT9Y6J6 One feature of the Breville I would like is the built-in timer; I really hate setting a timer to mix something for 2 minutes or whatever. It also has silicone on the beaters which is supposed to help "sweep" the bowl and be quieter. I read several reviews that complain that the silicone comes off after a while and the beaters have to be replaced (and I'm certain the replacements will be similarly over-priced.) So I suppose I'll stick with my tried-and-true, Kitchenaid. Maybe in a nice candy apple red. I could get myself a miner's hat with the headlamp and replicate the missing light feature.
Well I do I’ve got a white one @John Brunner I use it when I make a bread and butter pudding in a deeper dish then the usual one ( usually when we have visitors coming for a meal ) Think I’ve got a photo on here ( iPad ) of the last one I made just for us
As much as I like my Breville convection oven, their other appliances don't get the rave reviews their prices should command. I'm trying to recall whether or not those old Sunbeam Mixmasters (with the twist-dial ends) were lighted. Maybe I'm recalling the arc from the brushes. I bought a new hand mixer not all that long ago (a 3 speed Oster.) It's "meh." The beater eject button is the power switch...you press it down to eject...but the cord self-winds into the unit. Hand mixers are one of those appliances I use maybe every couple of years. I like my potatoes hand-mashed, and I don't make frosting (or meringue) except for church events. I can see where that mixer light might come in handy. Under cabinet lights (and those over the stove) don't provide the best lighting on food prep surfaces.
