@Beth Gallagher Ive given up watching Current affair that’s on for 1/2 hour each week night , I say to DH ……sigh ….here go’s another bleeding heart story …..I get so sick of it …..I didn’t see anything about celebrities doing Bleeding heart stories ….but I wouldn’t doubt it for one minute…..sigh ….

Some of the Aussie stories are about murder victims funerals …..however if you have been a victim of crime the government pays for funerals …..if one is caught speeding , commits a crime , or ends up in court and is ordered to pay a fine …..We ( well I’ve never been in court ) but I did get pinged for doing
3 km over speed limit ..limit is 60 km hour on most city roads ..I was doing 63 …its some time ago but I had to pay ..way back then a $200 fine + $90 Victim of crime levy

I have already been reading that people in the LA area are being offered prices for their property that was burned, so I think that you are exactly correct, @Beth Gallagher , and they are doing the same thing as they did with the people after the Hawaii fires and the flooding in North Carolina and Tennessee.
Mel Gibson had gone to Texas for the Joe Rogan interview when his home burned, and when he made the video of what it looks like now, he said it could not have been any worse if someone had deliberately burned everything there on purpose.

All the houses right along the ocean are gone, and some of the pictures show the homes reduced to literally ashes, and the trees beside the house looking fine.
I read that now they want to build back with apartments, and Newsom is changing the housing codes so that the investors can buy the burned properties and rebuild with apartments instead of houses.
So, probably, only the very rich people will be able to rebuild, if even they want to do that after the zoning codes are changed.

Ditto! Disgusting Hollywood elites that think they control the world and prey on the good hearted folks to become richer. I have no pity for the wealthy that lost their 25 million dollar mansion and just went to another multi million dollar home they own.

Here is something interesting that I read about the connection between smart meters and why the houses burn to ashes in the wildfires and still leave trees standing nearby. This makes a lot of sense to me.

Smart meters have lithium ion batteries. When these batteries catch fire they have what's called "thermal runaway" where they will go from 140 degrees Fahrenheit to 6000 degrees Fahrenheit in just a few seconds.
The smart meter is connected to the copper wiring of the home which is designed to travel electricity due to its conductivity. Along with being conductive, the copper wires are also great at heat transfer via convection. So when these supposed forest fires hit neighborhoods but burn more homes than trees, the culprit in the unusual fire forensics looks to be the lithium ion batteries.
It's no wonder these homes are burned to dust while trees are standing within feet of the houses. These homes are burning from the inside out, literally. The copper wires in the homes are insulated and carrying extreme heat to every corner of the home..

Lists of conspiracies about the LA fires are growing on the internet. One of them is that the fires were deliberately set in order to create ‘smart cities’. I suspect high fire prone conditions and 100 mph winds. Throw in an accidental spark or arsonist and that is all it takes.

But but, the Indian lady, says 100% goes direct to the organizations in need. Oh yeah, she is the one with microscopic Indian blood, if any, that went to college for free on the tax payers dollars. During that time, several thousand people with documented Indian blood of at least 1/4th, were denied admission due to lack of funds.

Sad to hear that the leader lady of BLM lost all but one of her mansions ... NOT!

Careful now. There are plenty of people in America that would definitely like to have the money these "elite" have. Plenty. Those that can't afford heart medicine or whatever sure would. These "elite" make movies that the public pay to go see, so that isn't "preying" on people when they willfully pay the big bucks to see a movie or go to a concert.

Many people in America get jealous of those that live "the good life".

Well, Cody, I am totally happy with my life and my past. I have no envy of anyone with money. We don't have a lot, but we have more than we need. I don't admire or idolize wealthy or famous people. I can't imagine being old and uncontented.

Living in a big city in a wealthy elite neighborhood, is not my idea of the good life. That sounds like prison to me. Ranch country in a modest house with good neighbors, is what I know and call the good life.

Here's a map of California's population density. The fires happen to be in the most densely populated area around LA. Why? Is it a result of carelessness by said population, or was it targeted by fire bugs? A random fire could happen anywhere if it was by a natural cause.

Wind makes a fire spread but it doesn't cause fire. Neither does "high temperature." Even paper requires a minimum temperature of 451 to burn. The hottest temperature on record is 134 in 1913. Occasionally, high winds can cause power lines to fall & start a fire, but it's usually arson related.
Anyone who does some research on arsonists knows how these fires usually start. They have already detained some suspects. Much like other criminals, arsonists are released from prison early & they can't stop because they actually get tremendous sexual satisfaction from setting fires & watching the result. Imagine what an arsonist is thinking when the weatherman reports high winds.

I rather be poor and healthy than rich and sick. Is anyone on the Forum directly affected by the fires? Family?

Maybe instead of believing hysterical liberal drivel, you'd like to read how this actually started. Here's an article from the LA Times, two years ago. https://www.latimes.com/california/...es-as-california-stormwater-washes-out-to-sea

Also, Trump is not in office yet. Why isn't your hero Biden stepping up?

I am really concerned about @Joy Martin ! She lives somewhere in Los Angeles, and while I do not think the is in the part where the fires are, I don’t really know for sure.
However, they are evacuating a lot of other areas where they think the fire might spread, and she might be in an evacuation area.
She is not here every day, but has been off for about a week, so may be having problems caused by the fire.

Elon Musk has said that a lot of areas have lost WiFi connection, and he is sending out people with cyber trucks and Starlink WiFi on the truck, with an open connection, so people who can’t connect to WiFi or cell towers can connect directly with their phone or other electronic devices by connecting with the free Starlink.
