What Trump said was actually true. I was seeing pictures in the news where the city workers were actually opening the water mains and the water was running down the street. People were horrified because there is no water to fight the fires, and then they let the water they do have just run down the city streets where there is no fire. Another ridiculous thing that Newsom is doing is stopping fire trucks that are coming from all over the country to help fight the fires. Trucks from Oregon said they were stopped because they did not pass some emissions test for California, and other places have reported that they were not allowed to buy the diesel fuel they needed to get to the fires.
I thought it was two different laws, but I now not sure, either way I do agree that they try to make Trump out of a liar or the bad guy every way they can.
A number of arsonists have been reported to authorities, and bounties have been offered by wealthy individuals and private firefighters have been hired. Fireworks and downed power lines have been blamed for the start. It has now been announced (quietly) that power line upgrades were not done in the palisades area because of an endangered shrub in the area. Newsome has been on camera every day saying he doesn't know anything and the locals are to blame. The White House press secretary is implying that California should be given back to the Natives anyway since it is "stolen land". Interesting. It is now racist to talk about DEI and the Democrats are allocating money to fight Trump and stop deportations but not yet for fire victims. The same people who are building the high speed rail are now going to rebuild LA. I wonder how much CO2 the LA fires are contributing to the atmosphere?
I just saw an ABC news report that the fire engines are lined up in case the high winds ignite more fires. I guess there is spontaneous combustion occurring all over LA. I am sure it has nothing to do with the homeless encampments that are everywhere. Even Anchorage almost burned down a few years ago due to a cooking fire in a park in a homeless camp during dry, windy weather.
It's a horrible thing at the individual, household, family, and community level, sure. But for me the real question is "Why, again, and again, and again?" Fix the problem. And don't make yourself feel good by blaming everyone else ("climate change"). Crummy as it sounds I keep thinking "Karma" and "Sodom and Gomorra."
Fire trucks donated from Oregon do not meet emission standards, so, no go. But the emissions from smoke is fine?
