@Frank Sanoica Are you saying you shoehorned that motor in where a flathead 6 used to be???? We had a '64 Rambler American station wagon (3 on the tree) I always dreamed of making a sleeper out of. That was the car I learned to drive in. RE: my Lincoln...a friend found a pair of them at an estate sale. His & hers. $1,000 for the 2 of them. To meander back to the topic: That was when I had my first hourly job out of high school, working a drug store for $1.80/hour. When the holidays rolled around they were open from 9AM to midnight, 7 days a week, from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Since they were short-handed, I worked every single hour they were open...105 hours/week. With all that overtime, I went from grossing $72/week to grossing $247/week.
@John Brunner That 430 served me in several cars. First, m y '55 Mercury, then the '63 Falcon, then a brand-new '64 Falcon I bought special-order with the 260 V-8. 'Course, while building the '64, I didn't have a clue that the Mustang was about to hatch.......Ordered mine with 289 Hi-Performance package in Aug. 1964, too about 4 weeks to get it. Best car I've ever had! S/N 5F07K284486. Numbers entombed in my silly mind...... I yanked that 430 out of the nice new '64 Falcon, made it look normal, traded it in for the new Mustang. Frank
The only car I ever owned (27 cars to date) with "suicide doors" was my first car, a 1934 Plymouth. My succeeding 26 cars all had "suicide prevention" doors. Yowzah!
