What is high cholesterol the MD will tell you anything over 200 is bad. Research says that if you are under 200 your in big trouble for Diabetes or Dementia. There have been no scientific studies on cholesterol it was all an ad campaign to sell Crisco. There is no scientific proof that cholesterol causes heart problem or any other disease. Doctors are only repeating what some other doctor said and not looking up the science. ND say that good cholesterol is 220 to 270 and the group of people with the lowest heart problems have cholesterol of over 350.

So what is high what the doctor says or what the science says. Just remember the doctor only makes money when you are sick.

Thank you the comment .... made me look into it.

I'll stick by this ... All oil when heated to a 'smoke point' turns, even olive oil - yes. You are correct.
But that wasn't what I was saying.
Quality first cold-press extra virgin olive oil when heated to a medium heat for a short period of time doesn't break down. I'm not talking about frying anything, and cooking using about a tbsp. of oil, if that.
The rules about cooking with olive oil seem to be never high heat (over 350) and never reuse.
And always store the oil in a dark place away from light and heat. and it's very important to use top quality olive oil.

Its important to eat a proper diet when you are diabetic. It even more important to have a regular check-up to maintain the correct sugar level. I think fats must be eliminated from diet and proteins and vitamins should be added.

I read an article in the February, 2011 Reader's Digest called, "Eat This and Lose Weight; the new science of dieting." The writer, Lisa Davis, interviewed writer Gary Taubes about his book, "Why We Get Fat and What to do About it." It was an interesting article so I bought the book. With all I had going on then I didn't have time to really read it. Plus I was cooking for others and it was too much trouble to cook just for me. I just flipped through it. I got it out a few days ago and really read it. It makes a lot of sense to me. He agrees that Dr. Atkins had the right idea. His recommendations are not as strict as the Atkins Diet. I'm going to try it his way and see what happens. I have lost five pounds and I want to lose five more. Then maybe I'll work on ten more. :)

Here is a scientist who is 100 years old and has successfully sued the FDA over trans fats He in the 1950s showed that the heart problems people were having was due to trans fats and not saturated fats. He published his finding in the scientific journals. He also showed a link to diabetes and Alzheimer’s. At first the FDA would not respond to his findings but after he sued them they did and now they are going to ban all trans fats, about time. The trans fats are what the American Heart Association has been saying we should be eating. I guess they want more costumers.
