You'll see literary references to "a blood-red moon." It alludes to the surreal feeling brought on by an eclipse.

The Fall of the House of Usher: "The light was that of the full moon, of a blood-red moon, which was now shining through that break in the front wall, that crack which I thought I had seen when I first saw the palace."

Another lunar eclipse tonight Thursday November 18 2021. This will be the longest partial eclipse in 600 years.

Link to Spaceweather article. (If you go to the site after 11/18/21 make sure to put that date in the "archives" fields.)

    Begins- 11:19PM PST
    Maximum Eclipse- 1:03AM PST
    Ends- 2:47AM PST

Weather permitting, this should be visible from the entirety of North America. I have cloud cover and strong chance of brief showers forecast between 6PM and Midnight:

Thanks, @John Brunner. We'll be out to see it if the weather is clear. Probably won't stay out for the entire thing and it is still getting down to around -20 F. at night here.

I don't understand. You got cloud cover?

I'm waiting for mine to blow over. It's starting to break up.

Yes cloud cover or a velvet blanket. Happens whenever we are going to have an astrological event.

The moon is small but very bright here. About 15 minutes ago there was a buttermilk sky. It was beautiful. Possibly more so than the eclipse will be.

Now clouds seem to be collecting into larger clumps. :(

My sky here in the middle of Virginia has been the same. Just a solid layer of clouds uniformly backlit by the moon. I can't even tell where the moon is because the light is so evenly dispersed. My local hourly weather forecast website says the sky should by clear here by midnight. Here's where we are at 10:50PM:

The clouds are following that trail up the coastline from NC through New York City, move dead northeast.

We have a clear sky and very bright moon, but I don't think I can stay up late enough to see the eclipse.

The clouds are gone. The eclipse is supposed to begin here near Richmond at 1AM, max eclipse at 4AM, ends at 7AM.

It's supposed to start in Houston at midnight your time, lasting 6 hours with the peak in the middle.

I watched most of the covering, but from inside through the window, as it is -26 F. outside right now and I don't feel like getting that dressed up to stand in the cold and watch it get dark. Pretty cool, though.

Well, my daughter's dog got me up at 3:45 and I got to see the last of the eclipse nice and clear.
Would not have even thought to look if it wasn't for you guys.
    Thanks.

The sky cleared up here by midnight. It was supposed to start at 1 am. I couldn't see any change at all until 2:15. By 3:15 it was way more than half covered. That's when I quit.

You are more of a trooper than I.

I had a bright moonlit night. I went to bed at 2:00AM and saw no change at that time. In hindsight it makes sense...an exceptionally long event was likely to unfold in slow motion. I woke up at 3:30AM, thought about stepping outside in the chilly air, then rolled over and went back to sleep.
