I definitely do like your post @Nancy Hart. Now, if indeed one were prone to following conspiracy theories, one would of course go back to Obama and the start of the DEIA which brought the LGBTQRSTUV++ groups into the spotlight and has had businesses chasing their tails trying to live up to the edicts of that department. Then of course, we have Biden’s executive order which gave a boost to that department in Federal Government agencies but to what end? It could be that it’s a subterfuge to hide what is really going on in the Government. It’s a smoke screen. If the conversation in the media is all about the alphabet groups and individuals within those groupings with little conversation about U.S. and World events, then those nefarious critters in the government can pretty much get away with anything with very few knowing about it. Think about it: When was the last time you heard any details in length about what we’re doing in Ukraine? When was the last time you heard an in depth report on illegal immigration or the status of our economy? In truth, the free world is being so inundated with the sex habits of 1% of the population that everything else that is REALLY important is now treated as a last page event. Heck, half the earth could be missing its population and all we’d hear about is what some idiot man who thinks he is a woman is doing to make himself feel better. Note: In 2023, the Supreme Court has handed down at least a dozen decisions but who can honestly tell me what those are other than what is in the OP and the Roe vs Wade rulings? To be true, even if one does know all the rulings, one would have to admit that only 2 of those decisions are spotlighted. Religious rights (pertaining to the alphabet group) and abortion rights.
They have been talking about Ukraine for days on the news: cluster bombs, Zelinsky's tweets, new weapons, NATO, Sweden joining, Ukraine too after the conflict is over, Prigozhin v. Putin, on and on.... The economy was half the day yesterday between more Ukraine on the news. I don't know what set that off. It is true I haven't heard anything about illegal immigration in at least a week. And I never hear anything about sex habits of 1% of the population, except when I come here to this website and read the posts.
My goodness Nancy, if I struck some sort of chord that seems somehow offensive to you I certainly do apologize. The thing is, I do NOT listen to music on the radio but I DO listen intently to a lot of talk radio and look at news from other countries as well as listen to a lot of other commentary and whilst there are some blurbs concerning Joe’s trips and a little about cluster bombs and a tad about Putin etc, the majority is about society’s ailments on a few fronts, what Zuckerberg and Musk are doing, artificial intelligence and a lot of stupidity in the realm of the alphabet groups. I mean, who really cares if Obama told an Ugandan leader that our relations would be strained because of his stance on homosexuality? How about instead, tell me the truth about why we have part of the 82nd Airborne in Ukraine! To me, all that stuff is as potatoes and has little to do with feeding the public real meat. Like I wrote, it’s alll a smoke screen.
No offense taken, Bobby. No need to apologize. It just occurred to me all the things that have been in the news lately and I got carried away reciting them. Normally I can't remember them.
In a strange way, I kinda get it. Back in the 60’s, we as mere kids were heavily influenced to find ourselves as in, “I have to go and find myself”. The hippie and yippee movement had started and kids, under the spells of mind altering substances, free sex and a new music craze, hit the roads in search of others who were headed in the same direction. Perhaps, since we, the baby boomers covered all the really neat evils, this newer generation has found that finding themselves includes being a biological misnomer of sorts. Now, I have no idea what a zie,ze,zem or any of the other very abstract designations really mean but I can see someone saying non-binary in lieu of a singular biological trait if that person has doubts about their own sexuality. And, since nearly everyone exhibits some sort of multiple personality traits, I can see someone calling themselves as a they or them. But here’s where it gets hinky. It isn’t a problem what a person calls themselves but they also demand that everyone else recognizes them accordingly. They are becoming so ingrained with what they believe themselves to be, they get offended when everyone else doesn’t comply with what they wish to be called. Just like our generation, sooner or later the craze will cease and these kids are going to find the same revelations about life as ours and the generations before us found: (edited quote from Stephan King) You can want with one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first.
Beth makes two very important valid points. There has been more than one case of the other than hetro community purposely going into a business, they know is faith based, and making a scene. They try to force the business owners to conform to their beliefs and lifestyle. In every case I have read about, the owners didn't discriminate only stood their ground when the anti hetro customers tried to force them to be part of an event or occasion they couldn't, due to their beliefs. I don't believe any business owner needs to post the rules of their business on their door, other than they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone without giving a reason. The supreme court just gave business owners back their right to pursue happiness. I am with Beth concerning all this hateful nonsense that as a natural born female, I am just an illusion and psychological concept. Frankly, I am sick and tired of being lumped in a group of birth sex denying males, that claim they are also female and just as much a woman as I. I got pregnant from my husband releasing his sperm in my vagina. Those confused wankers can try as hard as they may, but that will never happen for them. Science tells us that such is impossible. I will quit there as this birth sex denying mental illness just gets me in a fighting mood.
Exactly. Besides the fact that the salon owner doesn't need to know anyone's sexual proclivities, and probably doesn't want to. From the article... "the owner of Traverse City-based Studio 8 Hair Lab, Christine Geiger, said she would decline service to customers who requested a specific pronoun be used..." So unless someone is pushing her with the "they/them" bullshit, there is no issue. Just get your damn hair cut and go about your business, keeping your mental illness to yourself.
Just because someone decides to do things their way, does not mean the rules have changed. Nor should others have to change the rules because you see it differently.
