Speaking of old cigarette ads and jokes, one went: "Is the Doctor in?" "No, he's out testing cigarettes." Or: "Most doctors who have tried Camels still prefer women." Hal
@Lon Tanner I was banned for life for simply disagreeing with the admin, and not publicly, at that. No real reason given, though I'm sure 'ole Kevin imagined many! Frank
I just got chided on the Comcast forum for "circumventing" the language filters. Just because I said "p*ssed off." The nerve. So I told the moderator what I thought of his language filters. I may be joining y'all on the "banned elsewhere" list ASAP. Besides, I am pissed off. The damn pirates are removing Starz from the channel lineup... all 17 Starz/Encore channels. Are they reducing my bill?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. A few months ago, they removed Cinemax. Did they reduce my bill?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I just want to know why I have to keep up my end of the "contract" but they can screw me over anyway they choose. Ugh. When that contract is up, the cord is CUT.
@Beth Gallagher They can, because somewhere the contracts always have a fine-print statement worded to the effect: "Management reserves all rights". Frank
Oh, I'm well aware that they can, and they do. That doesn't make it any more palatable. Unfortunately it seems that internet/cable providers are still allowed to be a monopoly.
Thet get you to contract, after that it's always their way and the fine print in the contract, their way.
@Beth Gallagher "morally reprehensible" Like many of the highly questionable activities of government, too! Can you believe that the powerful security agencies (CIA, NSA) have at their disposal, crematories which may be used to eliminate any evidence of their assassinations? Frank
Gosh, and all this time I thought those were for the government’s annual wiener roast and beer bash.
@Beth Gallagher Is there a specific reason as to why you don't just use the streaming channels on a smart TV or ROKU stick? You can get local news and all sorts of things now. Then, your only bill is your internet. I pay $65 a month for next to the fastest Xfinity which is more than enough since I don't play online games. Now there is Pluto that has all the regular line up shows one would find on a cable network. You can even use your phone as a remote. My daughter loves it.
@Frank Sanoica I'm glad things didn't work for you at the other forum. Now, we have you all to ourselves.
We have all the streaming channels, except for Hulu which I finally cancelled. We have been Comcast customers since the early 1990s since it's basically the only game in town. It's convenient, the internet is excellent, and we usually got a pretty good price for "bundling" services. For the most part it has been just a habit, and we sign a new contract every 2 years. We have 11 months to go on this last one and I plan to do a lot of looking at options during that time. My husband is resistant to change and he will be my biggest obstacle.
