Yes. There was a large TB hospital in Harlingen, Texas when I was working as a paramedic there, and I have transported several TB patients from the INS detention center in Bayview to the Chest Hospital in Harlingen.

The Vietnamese had a very bad time with TB. In 65 when I went to basic training here in La there was an airborne disease killing troops at our bases here at home. They had a 3 seat spacing in closed buildings like theaters and buildings. Then of course after the precautions they would stack us up in long trailers to be transported to the gun ranges, that was at Fort Ord where it was pretty hilly. I could never remember the name of the disease it has been so long ago. Since that time all the bases I lived have been rebuilt to modern standards or completely closed. Fort Ord was 90 years old when closed in 98. Fort Polk where I took basic training is still going strong and more modern after all the barracks replacements took place in 74. Fort Campbell also had a major face lift and new modern college style barracks were built to replace the ones I lived in, which by the way were not very old when I arrived early 66. In November I reach the 57th year I joined.

Most of those who I transported from the INS detention center were Chinese, but there were people from other nationalities with TB.

This one is actually the virus affecting the most Americans. Some recover, some do not; however, the ones that do recover are completely immune to this pox.

I think the chickenpox vaccine was discontinued decades ago for entering schools for the first time. It was totally eradicated for a very long time. I can't remember how many shots I had when I entered Kindergarten but it was several and chickenpox was high on the list. I still had it but not due to going to school, my sister was two years older and I guess she brought it home from school. I do remember that both of us had it at the same time, miserable times and my Grandmother was big on that castor oil with Juice ;0( and the cod liver oil double ;0(

There also used to be chickenpox parties whereby one kid would have chickenpox and a bunch of parents would haul their kids in with the affected child so they could all catch it at one time and get it over with and not run the chance of catching it later in life as an adult.
I had a good friend who was an extremely handsome dark skinned gentleman when he caught it as an adult and it left him so scarred he has to wear makeup to hide the damage on his face.

That said, I heard this morning that the Monkey Pox thing was actually spread via having sex at 2 big “Raves” in Europe. Some 80 thousand attendees from Switzerland, France, Israel, Italy etc all gathered at an island festival and of course, did more than just dance.

Monkeypox comes from the smallpox virus. Chickenpox comes from the varicella virus and anyone having it as a child may get it again as an adult, but it is called shingles or varicella-zoster virus. Monkeypox is a totally different virus from Chickenpox.

I think you meant smallpox, @Thomas Stillhere As @Yvonne Smith said once you survive smallpox, you are immune for life. Once you have chickenpox, the virus lives in your spine for life. It cannot be killed, but can be blocked from replication by a strong immune or in cases such as mine, daily valacyclovir 500 BID. I also had all the "shingles" vaccines and highly recommend them to anyone that had chickenpox because as we age and weaken, the virus can attack nerves and leave one disabled or dead. It doesn't always break out in sores and can cause brain damage before any doctor realizes what is happening.

Actually, I was only making a joke about surviving “Donkey-pox” (Liberalism), @Faye Fox . Some people never become aware of the truth , but some people do, and once they do understand where Liberalism is going, and they come out of it, they never go back , so they have achieved immunity.

It appears in some reports to be a sex-related virus that is spread via anal sex predominantly. Unlike the early '80s with AIDS, no one is going to make a public issue of this one. The Gay lobby is just too strong.

I want to know why I am not considered to be "expert" enough to make my own health care decisions, but they let some idiot who developed a marginal operating system do it.

Yup. The parallels are there for the taking.

Why does he get the microphone he has?
Why are his [lack of] credentials impeccable?

And if I recall his story correctly, early on he wanted to outright sell DOS to IBM who refused to buy it...they demanded that Gates license it to them instead, thus putting him in the position of retaining the rights to it against his will.

Rescued from his own bad business judgement. And he stole Windows from Apple.
