Facetious, or you really mean that? I scare easily.......no offense meant, please be aware. Just surprised me! I have been told I am a complicated guy, and the more times I have tried self-analysis, the foggier I got!
Our @Chrissy Page is really an angel, and she only meant her comment in the best of ways, @Frank Sanoica , you can rest assured of that. If we come across like a group of cats eyeing a can of tuna fish; it is only because we are glad to have you here in the forum, and waiting (patiently?) for you to join in the conversations here. You are well-spoken, and have an excellent way of presenting yourself, and I am sure that you will add some interesting ideas and perhaps some intriguing questions to our forum posts. So......again.......welcome !
@Frank Sanoica I don't have a mean bone in my body. I was just intrigued with your introduction and am excited to have you on board. Sometimes I don't phrase things right, sorry.
Welcome, Frank... Hope you'll like it here. @Ken Anderson , technical question here... how can Frank have written a number of replies in this thread alone and still be showing as "0 messages?"
I may have set the Introductions thread up so that messages posted here don't count. I don't remember doing that but I do remember thinking about it, so I may have. I'll check later, when I get a chance.
if somone has 'tagged'' you in a thread it means they have specifically mentioned you by name in their post on a thread, usually but not always in reply to something you may have previously posted. To achieve this one would first press the @ key ...followed immediately with the first 3 or 4 letters of the users name..then a little boc will appear underneath your reply with the the suggestion of the users' name of whom you may be quoting..you just click on this and it will appear in the reply box in RED for example...If I was to reply or quote you I would post @Frank Sanoica (make no space after the @ sign) It's not necessary to use this way to quote or reply to anyone, but it does give you notice at the top of the page that another member has replied directly to a previous comment you've made on a thread.. and the fact that your name stands out in RED means you can see the reply straight away even if they've been many posts between your last post and the reply... Clear?...Mud?>>> brain hurt yet?>>LOL ...it'll all become very clear before long..it takes a little while to get used to everything on a new forum, but just ask any of us if you get stuck with anything at all..and we'll do our best to help!
I was pretty certain you meant it in a positive way; it's my Chicago-bred paranoia showing...... Had ton study a lot of Technical English in Electronics School, and my writing style is known to be more like a technical manual than creative.....what a mess my autobiography would be! Thank you for yet another kind remark....how many times throughout life I've wished I had a way with the ladies, instead of with words! Terribly introverted. FS
I lived in Chicago in the early 70's but moved to the suburbs a few years later. McHenry county mostly.
I've said, "small world" lots of times. Where were you from originally, if you do not mind my asking, though it's a personal question, and none of my business. I lived in the Chicago area from -9 months until 30 years old. Recall McHenry County as being often mentioned in the slanderous political diatribe back then. "Early '70s:" I left there, my birthplace, in '72, never to return, 'ceptin for funerals, of course! F
Welcome @Frank Sanoica from Texas...I was also born and raised in Chicago and lived in McHenry County!! @Chrissy Page
Small world! I grew up in Pittsburgh, @Frank Sanoica . I've lived in Indiana also for a few years, then Hungary and now California.
@Frank Sanoica , hello and welcome to SO. I've been away for a few days trying to allow my eyes to rest from the strain of being online too much. So I missed your entry into the forum. I hope you find us too your liking, and who knows, maybe your wife will see how much fun your having and decide to join as well. I know that we have a least one couple on this forum. Just remember there is a little imp in all of us.
