The people are ok to make fun of. I was once studying Jewish religion but decided being a Christian was what I thought was correct for me. Far as me being a good Christian, not yet. Either way I am of the understanding that God is Holy and not to be spoken of in jest aka in vain. Someone luke warm like me should probably just keep my beliefs to myself.
Water starts out cold and has to go through the lukewarm stage before being hot. Keep going Marie and don’t ever think that you have to keep your beliefs to yourself.
I just put up a post about them recently finding a piece of the space shuttle Challenger off of the coast of Florida. Like many here, I recall when that tragedy happened. I also recall a friend telling me a joke about it that was going around the very next day, and realizing that was the day I burnt out on people making jokes out of tragedies like that. I couldn't even smile or pretend to find it funny. Seven people lost their lives on national TV with schoolkids watching the first American civilian--a teacher--go up on space and then getting blown to bits, and less than 24 hours later people are making sick humor out of it. In hindsight, I probably matured late and should have rejected that stuff sooner.
There was a local DC disc jockey who was mega-popular and I'm sure mega-rich (Doug Tracht/Greaseman Minelli.) He made a similar joke on MLK Day about what it might take to get the whole week off. He got suspended for 4 days and then threw dollars at those who claimed to represent the aggrieved parties.
If I told an off-color joke about someone from the northeast corner of the South Samoan Islands, you know who would be standing right behind me. Timing is everything. Mine happens to be 180° off.
Well, there are numerous stand-up comedians, like George Lopez, that joke about their race/nationality. He did it a lot in his tv show George Lopez, and now, in his new tv show Lopez vs Lopez, he continues doing it.
Sure, and there are lots of people who say nasty stuff about their families...but no one else better do it. It's an odd tribal thing.
I'd like to wipe my ass on Lopezs lettuce. And same for the sick mostly white American audience who laughs when he brags about how they wipe their ass on ours, so they think it is funny that the very old and very young who have weak immune systems eat the feces of those working in the fields and get sick some die, how is that so funny? This WOKE butt kissing is way out of hand. You may not have seen that performance, but I did. Before that he was ok.
I was taught as a child not to make fun of people's looks much less disabilities. So that I don't tolerate well.
Bashing is one thing but to make light of his relatives opening up their pants and wiping their butts with produce is not funny can will lead to even more unclean and dangerous practices. I'm sure most didn't see that stage performance so I understand why he is still liked.
Cody my rant wasn't personal wanted to make sure you knew that. Plus yesterday was also one of my Sybil days. But I still don't like Lopez, Another ungrateful multi millionaire. Back to music before Sybil comes back into the picture.
Names shouldn't be joked about. In school my last name (maiden) was made fun of and always pronounced wrong purposely so others would laugh.
I'm with Beth on this. There are boundaries that shouldn't be crossed, mostly having to do with peoples' very real suffering, from whatever cause.
John I think it is more an act of honor to defend your own Those who do not honor who they are and were are destined to be ruled by those who do.
