Ha ha - yes, windows 10 ! New to us Fabs has patience and will keep going till he gets there, me - I give up easily I'm just not technical - problems of life in general, well that I'm good at ....... @Yvonne Smith
Just caught up with your thread about your new notebook @Patsy Faye , I hope you get it all set up to your liking, Windows 10 is a good OS, but I hate the Metro style menu, so like a lot of people I installed "Classic Shell" which gives it the familiar Windows 7 look you can download it HERE
I really don't get on with tablets for anything other than watching movies in bed and browsing, I can't do without a keyboard and a mouse is essential. I bought a Lenovo 11.5" notebook similar to your Acer about 6 months ago @Patsy Faye , it is very light at about 2lbs with a 10 hour battery life and it runs very cool, being all solid state. It was on special offer on Amazon at £120 ($150) .....I took it all over India on my recent trip and had no problems with the high temperatures there. I find I use it all the time at home now despite having several desktop computers lying around here.... Here are a couple of photos of it in a corner of my bedroom..
How are you doing with the new laptop, @Patsy Faye ? I am hoping that you are able to use it like you expected and are now writing from the comfort of your favorite chair (or wherever you were hoping to use the laptop from) and that you have gotten used to the new operation system as well.
I'm using it now Yvonne - it's not great for me yet, I will need to sit it on something its just finding the best option for me - time will tell
The pictures make it look so easy to use a laptop in bed or on the couch, and maybe that works okay when you're young enough but whatever position I'm in, where I can still see the screen and use the keyboard, will become uncomfortable before I'm done doing what I'm doing.
Those little lap desks are well worth having, @Patsy Faye . Mine is just a cheap one (pretty sure I posted a picture on here somewhere), and I have had it 4-5 years now, and I would be lost without it. I sit in my recliner, and then balance the lapdesk on the armrest of the chair and partially in my lap, and that works perfectly. They come in all styles, sizes, and prices on Amazon; so if you browse through them, you should find something that fits what you need.
I don't have any problem sitting up in bed with my knees up and my laptop resting on them, but I guess it depends on how comfortable you are in certain positions which could cause pain to some. I have a desk and chair in my bedroom which I use when I am up.......which isn't that often
